Regex Expression - HELP!

8 New Member
Hi there,

I'm having trouble using the C# regex function and any help would be appreciated!

Here's a snippet of the code I'm using:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. matches = regex.Matches(txtInput.Text,@txtRegEx.Text,RegexOptions.IgnoreCase);
  2. foreach (Match NextMatch in matches)
  3.             {
  4.                 rtbOutput.Text += "Match Found\n";
  5.             }
  6.
From what I've read you use /b to demarcate the start and end of a word so that /bhop/b won't match hope or shop.

Now if I do this:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. txtInput = Foo.
  2. txtRegEx = /bFoo/b
The code snippet above is picking up the period as part of the word - meaning I get a match when I don't want one.

But if I do this:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. txtInput = Foo.
  2. txtRegEx = b/Foo/./B
It seems to work, but then this doesn't work:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. txtInput = Foo.
  2. txtRegEx = b/Foo/./b
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Essentially I want to know what to wrap around my search text to make sure that the same piece of code will treat all of these differently:

Foobar
Foo.
Foo
Fo
Fo.

I'm sure it's really straightforward - but I've been searching the web for answers and can't seem to get to the bottom of it!

Thanks,
Peter

I'm struggling with something that should be fairly simple. I just don't know the regext syntax very well, unfortunately. I'd like to parse words out of what is basically a boolean search string. It's actually the input string into a Microsoft Index Server search. The string will consist of words, perhaps enclosed in quotes or parentheses. I'd like to use Regex to pull out the words, or the phrases if the words are enclosed in quotes....

I see signs that the ASP.NET regular expression validator has a different instruction set that the Find utility in VS 2003. I am trying to use the VS2003 regular expression Find tool to test regular expressions for use in a ASP.NET validator. The results I am getting are inconsistent . What works in VS does not always work in ASP.NET and vice versa. For example: +({0,1})(*)

I must create a routine that finds tokens in small, arbitrary VB code snippets. For example, it might have to find all occurrences of {Formula} I was thinking that using regular expressions might be a neat way to solve this, but I am new to them. Can anyone give me a hint here? The catch is, it must only find tokens that are not quoted and not commented; examples follow

Hi Everyone, I am using a regex to check for a string. When all the file contains is my test string the regex returns a match, but when I embed the test string in the middle of a text file a match is never returned. The string that I give to the regex is one that contains the entire contents of a text file. I'm using the multi-line option and I've also tried stripping out the VbCr

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
