How to find out why program crashed from a .dmp file?

A program crashed silently. Fortunately, I was able to get a .dmp
file. Hopefully it can provide us with info on why it crashed.

When I opened the .dmp file in Notepad, it took a long time to open
it. Then I see unreadable characters, supposedly to be executable-type
of file.

Anyone can advise me on how to extract info from the .dmp file?

Hello, I am trying to generate dynamic graphics using the GD library and TTF fonts. The resulting image shows up fine. But in the apache error_log file the following lines are appended: child pid 29141 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) MMCACHE: PHP crashed on opline 14 of imagettfbbox() at test.php:13 Seems like it might be a GD library problem but I am not sure. Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to call the php parser from a Win32 program (e.g. a VB or C++ program), WITHOUT calling the commandline php.exe utility. I mean, is there any "php_parse" function, exported by the php5ts.dll, which I can declare in my Win program and then call to parse a php script? Thanks in advance Luca

My program can, when directed, check a floppy for updates, verify the MD5 sums from another source, then copy the new Java classes to its own directory tree. Once it does this, I'd like to restart the program so the changes take effect. What's the best way to do this? I figure if I call the program's main class, it will run, but then I'll have 2 instances (the original and the one that's upgraded) running -- plus I'm not sure if the...

Hi, Is there a way to ensure that only one instance of an application runs on a physical machine. I would want to do this in a cross platform way. One ide I have is to obtain a list of the running processes and checking the list - but then (presumably), the checking code would always be on the list - so this defeats the point somewhat. Any ideas?

I've encountered a problem where I am changing a particular c source document and then running the associated make command in the console. If I then run that program, it is as though the update has been ignored. In actuality this change I am making is for the file tcpdump.c for the program tcpdump. I am changing a simple print statement that I am sure will be executed: Something like

When running a program in the debugger, what would cause it to crash without any error messages? I get "The program has exited with code 0 (0x0)". The program is a MDI app with threading for several serial ports. It only crashes when data is being received on one or more of the serial ports. Could someone please give me some ideas about what would cause a program to terminate in this way? Thanks....

Are there any way of detecting that a program have crashed and left an orphan file? I have tried with the filesystemwatcher, but that didn't work. Maybe I can use a polling strategy and keep polling the file and check if it is locked. But can I do this without trying to open the file and catch exeption. Any suggestions are welcome? Regards

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
