.NET find utility

In VB6, you just had available a Find dialog. Now, in .NET you have several options. "Find Symbol", "Quick Find" and "Quick Replace".

None seem to do what I want: simply find some code. Inundated with all these options makes me think i'm picking the wrong things.

But, you see, I dont want options. I just want to find a block of code (utter frustration here).

Any pointers on getting it to work simply as the VB6 find utility? And whats a symbol?

Just use Ctrl-F. That's what I always use. Just make sure that the "Look In" dropbox is set for the proper context. "Current Document" is the behavior I think that you are looking for. The Quick Replace (Ctrl-H) is the same as Quick Find (Ctrl-F) but with the option to replace the found text with some other text you specify. I must confess, I don't know what Find Symbol does.

All the extra options are actually quite useful; you can look in the whole project, whole solution, or all open files, or just the selected text. This can come in handy.

I believe Find Symbol is the sam as when you right-click on something and say "Find all references"

Now my question is all works fine during my initial request and all the global variables are set correctly, but during later...

I see signs that the ASP.NET regular expression validator has a different instruction set that the Find utility in VS 2003. I am trying to use the VS2003 regular expression Find tool to test regular expressions for use in a ASP.NET validator. The results I am getting are inconsistent . What works in VS does not always work in ASP.NET and vice versa. For example: +({0,1})(*)

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
