Hi All
I want to use my parallel port of my PC to control some external devices. I
am writing a program in ANSI C using the PacificC compiler. What I need to
know is how to access the parallel port ie to send data and to read the
state of the parallel port including the control lines. Can anyone
help/point me in the correct direction? I have tried the help files and the
internet but am unable to find anything relevant.

I have installed vs 2005 in my laptop however it works very slow. In my
desktop I have vs2003 installed.
The question is, can i install Visual studio 2005 beta 2 in the same pc
where i have visual studio 2003 installed?
or it upgrades my installation? can both work parallel to each other?

I wrote a C# Windows app using VS2003 to read selected text files and write
the data to 3 tables in an Access database. After "upgrading" to VS2005, I
tried to add a feature and rebuild - what a can of worms.
At this point, the solution builds and runs, but if I open or restore
another window, program or application, the app will go to a "Not Responding"
status. Sometimes, it writes records, sometimes it doesn't. I'm really
not sure...

I got a problem producing C# COM projects with vs2008.
COM project created and compiled with VS2003 works fine with all kinds of
early and late binding in Office2002, vbscript (only late of course) etc.
Compiling exactly the same project with VS2008 (checkboxes for register and
make visible COM both checked) will apparently install the project properly

DVD I burned from the ISO.)

Hi everybody,
There is a fatal error while installing VS2008 SP1 on Vista 64bit Business
edition. The last line of error log is
Installation failed with error code: (0x80070643)
I tried to uninstall Silverlight first (which is described in some blogs)
and install .NET framework 3.5 SP1 manually but still failed. My VS2008 is
Team Suit for developer and Vista SP1 is also installed.

if I make a new project with VS2008, the class TimeZoneInfo is
normally recognized and I can use it normally.
But if I attempt to use it in a converted project (2003->2008) the
compiler does not recognize the class (says that the Type is not
recognized).
I can't figure out which reference I should change or update. This
should be in System and the system reference is there (?)

Hello,
We created an application in Visual Studio 2003 with .NET 1.1.
Now we want to convert this project to .NET 2.0 and want to develop in Visual Studio 2008 (yes I know this has .NET3.5). Maybe we will use 3.5 later, but first we want to see how it goes in 2.0.
I tried opening our solutions in VS2008 but then it doesn't show the forms any more. It only shows controls that are on the form.
