Hello,
I'm developing a C# - windows forms application. To get some information
for my application, I'm connecting to an URL, wich gives me XML
generated using php.
With 90% of the users, this code just works fine:
WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(URL);

Hello. I'm writing a VB.NET app to check email message counts for both
POP3 and IMAP4. I'm using TCPClient to connect, and a NetworkStream to
send simple commands. It's a very simple bit of code, actually... the
problem is, if the user is behind a proxy, then the Connect method
fails (times out).
How do I get around this? I thought this would be a common issue and
that there would be plenty of code out there to demonstrate how to...

Apologies if this is a known issue... I don't know if this is an intentional
feature change, or simply a bug...
but!
I recently upgraded a web service to WSE3, specifically to use MTOM in a
particular call. This worked, however something else unrelated went "snap"
in the process...
After much head-scratching, I identified it as a public byte property that
was marked with as - i.e. to be serialized inline with the

Another formulation of the message tittle could be :
is it really "safe" (in the business sense) to embed a SSL webservice
consumer into any given software, given that any time a proxy server
will be encountered, then the call will fail (based on my knowledge) ?
....Different Player, shoot again... I am asking a question which was
posted several times in the last months, but never answered;
any advice / insight would be appreciated.

Sorry for the cross post from dontnet.framework but I'm hoping this may see
more activity here.
I have written an application to access a web service. The application runs
at multiple sites and must cross a proxy server.
The application runs fine through all proxy servers but one that is
configured to require a "User-Agent" header. I have added the user agent
string, however it does not seem to be passed during the HTTP CONNECT to...

The MTOM request below is rejected by a WSE 3.0 web service, indicating that it is a "Bad Request" - HTTP error 400.
The IIS configuration has set up the service to accept MTOM messaging (optional).
Can anyone see what about this POST makes it a bad request? Thanks!
Simone

I'm having an issue calling a java-based web service from a C#/.NET
2.0 client that uses WSE 3.0. (No WCF)
There is an operation on the web service that takes a single base64
encoded parameter that is transported as a MTOM mime part in a
multipart request.
The web service provider has sent me a trace of a successful SOAP
request and I have traced my SOAP request and I do not see any
differences other than differences in how the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
