I'm caching data in the Application object to speed up certain pages on a website
The main reason is that the retrieval of this data takes quite a while (a few seconds) and fetching the same data from the "cache" hardly takes any time
A basic pattern used to get the data from disk, or from cache is this
data = getDataFromCache("mydata"
if data = "" the
data = getDataFromDisk(
storeDataInCache(data, "mydata"
end i

I build a system where a Windows service iterates through a file and
sends each line in the file as a record to a database, by calling a web
service asynchronously. It runs on a w2k server.
What I notice is:
When the web service gets called, there seems to be a slowness and
potential for missed calls - my guess is because it's being moved into
memory. This causes problems as records are dropped. My solution is
to redo the load...

I am new to web services and want to expose a C# program
through web services (soap or otherwise) that will have a
service with cached data running on a server that clients
can make requests to without instanciating the (data)
classes locally. I see many examples of using web
services where the server really just handles requests to
point to XML serialized classes that have to be
instanciated locally on the client. This is no good for
me...

I just recently recieved my full copy of Visual Studio 2005
(excited!!!), and have gone head first into writing my first
application.
Sadly, I've hit a design barrier.
>From what I can see, ASP.NET 2.0 has no facility that is instantiated
upon deploying an application - similar to servlets. I don't really
need the functionality of a servlet, but what I am interested in
getting is an "always on" class that exists between different...

Is it advisable to store my own data as XML in the folder returned by
HttpRuntime.CodeGenDir?
(i.e. in "Temporary ASP.NET Files")
Each web service on the server must try to read its own cached file when it
(re)starts.
If it 's not present, it retrieves it from a remote service and caches it
locally.
If it's not advisable, what is the "best practice" for caching global

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
