I'm not sure what you are really doing. You have a GridView which is displaying data...usually this data is retrieved from a database. Now you want to save the data into a database?

Check out the GridView control and the section on CommandField.

Hello, Following an example at http://www.vb-tips.com/dbpages.aspx?IA=DG (by Cor Lightert and Ken Tucker) on binding a dataRelation to a Datagridview for sqlClient, I was able to view rows in datagridview2 that corresponded to a selected row in datagridview1. Great article/example.

I got a 2datagridviews bound to sql serve tables , one parent one child. The changes are always made only to the child table (add, edit or delete) In the Child table definition in SQL server I have an automatic generation via trigger of the date record is modified and the user name of the modifier. When I hit the dataset.Update code My saves are done OK, all the info is there when I look at it in sql server, but I do not see the...

I have a CreatedOn field , datetime, which has GetDate() as the default value in SQL server 2000 table. When I create a new record in the table itself in enterprise manager, the field gets populated OK, but when I try to create a new record with a Microsoft datagridview control, I notice that the datecreated value does not get created. It looks as if the datagridview insert statements overrides the default value and prevent the default...

Hi All :) I'm converting VB6 using True DBGrid Pro 8.0 to VB2005 using DataGridView. True DBGrid has a MultipleLines property that controls whether individual records span multiple lines. Is there an equivalent property for the DataGridView? I have searched, but have not found one. I would like the user to be able to see all the columns of the table on one screen - thus eliminating the need to use the horizontal scroll bar to view...

On a form - I have a datagridview which is docked to the entire form. The datagridview allows users to Delete and/or Add Rows. On the Form_Load event I Fill the datagridview source table with a sql DataAdapter (da) da.SelectCommand.CommandText = "Select * from Servertbl1" da.Fill(ds, "tbl1") so far, so good. If I add a row to the datagridview I use the following sqlDataAdapter code to update the server table - which works OK when...

Hi. What I am trying to do is very simple, but it somehow didn't work. I had created a table in a .MDB file, That table had 5 fields and one of which was the primary key. I added a DataGridView and set the binding source to that table. Visual Studio generated bunch of adapter classes. I didn't want to let users directly add rows so I disabled inserting rows in the DataGridView, and tried to add a new row programatically. I successfully...

I understand that the Value put into a DataGridViewComboBoxCell has to be a member of the Items list or an exception is thrown. I also understand that you can override that exception by handling the DataError event and just doing nothing in the circumstance that caused the error. Here's my situation: I would like to allow the user to EITHER select an item from the ComboBox (in a DataGridView) OR type in a new value of their own.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
