ASP.Net (VB) - Web user control with TypeConverter

26 New Member
I am developing a web user control and have a property exposed of type object. What I want is that when this user control is placed on a web form this property will pick up all the textboxes and give the user an option to choose from those values. Something very similar to what we've in CompareValidato r where we get to choose the name of the control to compare etc.
Just to be more clear:
a.) On a web form I'll place my user control.
b.) User control has a property, TextBoxToFill.
c.) Developer will go into the property and then he should see a list of all the textboxes that are available on the current web form (where the user control has been placed).

What I've tried so far:
In a CustomCompareVa lidator I've put the attribute
TypeConverter(G etType(ControlI DConverter))
before a property and that property is able to pick up all the available controls on the form where it has been placed. But when I put the same attribute in this user control it doesn't work. ANy idea why would it be so?

It's not actually a ::bump:: but sort of is.
I was hoping that somebody might have tried this.

Hi, We have a prob with .Net User Controls, something like this. I have a Custon Control InfoLabel Derived from System.Windows.Forms.Label ( Direct Inheritance - Custom Control) and the some properties of this is held in one custon Class. By setting TypeConverter attribute to the above class we could make it the subproperty. AS a singale control its working fine. Now, We have created another User Control, InfoMultiLabel, that uses this...

Hi I'm a bit new to the designing of custom web page controls and using them in the properties designer window - need a little advice on a concept here. I have two properties in my control - one that is a server name, which when entered will populate a drop-down list for the second property. I know that to get a drop-down list I will either need my second

I get the error "Error creating control: ID property is not specified" when I view my custom web control in design view. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
