Web Browser Automation in a windows Service Application

1 New Member
I'm developing a windows service application in C#, that is logging to a website, and check for a certain file, and if it exist, download it and process it.

http://watin.sourcefor ge.net - works great as a Windows application but doesnt run as windows service.

Anyone have an idea how can I make this program work?

Thank you

I have a strange situation with my Access 2000 database. I have code in the database which has worked fine for years, and now all of a sudden doesn't work fine on one or two of my client's machines. The code opens MS Word through Automation and then opens a particular Word doc. It's still working fine on most machines; but on one or two of them, the user is getting an Automation Error. The code used is as follows: Dim objWord As...

Hi, We have some code that uses automation to create/manipulate word documents. This runs in a batch mode, generating dozens of documents in sequence. The code works great, but while the automation code is working in word, care must be taken not to "interrupt" it with a keystroke or mouse-click, otherwise the current selection gets put somewhere its not supposed to be, and subsequent code will fail. This means that while it is running,...

Hi All This is a post further to my previous problem that I solved with the help of my friends at csharp group. I have a UI application that has a web-browser. When this application is run with the URL as one of the command parameters, this application accesses the web page in its web browser and parses the data of this web-site to get the specific information this app is interested in. This application works perfectly when run from a...

hi guys, I have encountered a problem with IE automation (.NET 2.0, C#, mshtml, SHDocVw). I am writing a class for manipulating specific html pages with frames. It is supposed to be used from a web service. The problem is that when I use the InternetExplorer object in web service, it seems like the underlying IE doesn't support frames. When I try to access HTMLDocumentClass.frames property I get the following exception: Specified...

I would like to write a Windows Service that can communicate with any open browser windows that an interactive user may be running. The service itself does not need to have a UI. The company that I work for develops software that monitors Customer Service Representative (CSR) performance. When you call a help desk and hear "This call may be monitored for quality purposes", the software that does this monitoring very likely has been...

Hi All, I'm hoping someone will have some words of wisdom for me regarding MS Clustering on Windows 2003. I have a service that runs on a cluster. During invocation it's supposed to determine from the cluster which node is active (this is a active/standby configuration) and either proceed or sleep depending on the status. The interface to the cluster is that advertised by the standard interop layer built by Visual Studio for the...

In VBA (I expect VB would be similar) controlling another Office Application (Automation) can be done using the following steps : Ensure the Reference (VBA Window / Tools / References) has been ticked for the application you want to Automate. Set up an application object variable to use (You can use With...End With if you prefer). Either : Use CreateObject(Class) to open a new object for multi-instance programs (For single Instance...

I cannot access my SQL database in a browser control created in my C# Windows application program I can, however, access the database from an IE browser. I get the ubiquitous "Login failed for NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE" error message. I researched all the advice on the internet and tried to add an NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE login to my database under the Security/Users tab using SQL Server Mangement. However, there is no NT...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
