Is there any way of specifying the startMode when using the xslTransform class?
We are updating code which used msxml to the system.xml classes but can find
no way to specify the startMode.
We use this so that we can specify different templates to be used by the
same xml node.
Know that we could use global params, but would rather not have to update
all teh stylesheets and any code that uses msxml and the same stylesheets.

I've just received a new computer with Win XP Version 5.1.2600. I want
to have Access 2003 and Access 97 running on this, so I did some
googling on cdma and it seems I must install these versions of Access
"sequentially", ie, A97, first.
When I use the Office 97 installation cd, pick my choices, I end up, at
the end of the installation, an error telling me the system.mdw could
not be created. When I click OK on this, the installer...

Every time I reboot my machine, I can no longer run ASP.NET
applications. I have to run aspnet_regiis.exe /i after every reboot.
The error:
Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is
currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web

I have an Ecommerce application that uses mostly ASP and a bit of ASP.NET.
Monitoring the servers memory via SNMP every 5 minutes would indicate that
there is a memory leak somewhere within the application. Of course, the
vendor says its a "Microsoft IIS" issue and tells us to reboot the server
each day or kill the worker process for IIS.
We're currently rebooting our server at 4 AM each night.
This is a really lame idea, in my...

I get this *intermittently* on a utility I am working on. I don't know whats
going on but here are a few points about it:
- using VS 2005, running on xp sp2
- program uses multiple threadpool threads
- only happens when built with the 'release' configuration (no debug flag,
compiler optimizations in effect) - no problems in debug config
here is the error:
Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or

Hi all,
While working on an Access UI to a MySQL database (which should be a
reasonable, low-cost, flexible interface to the DB, better than
web-based, much less costly than a full-fledged .NET app or so.... is
it?), I tried measuring the bandwith consumed by the
Access/MyODBC/MySQL link, which came out to be, er, quite high.
I fancied it would be interesting to look at the queries Access throws
at MySQL through the ODBC link, so I...

Ever since I successfully applied some techniques for increasing the
speed of my 17 meg. Application; it has only made me hunger for more.
First, let me list what I have done so far:
1. Split the application and database into front and back-ends,
2. Increased the load-time of my application by "pre-loading my
heaviest forms when the database is initially opened,
3. When forms do open, under, "Filter Lookup" I use, "Never",
4. I set...

I am testing AJAX. I've downloaded the AJAX Extension and the CTP
December package and installed on BOTH my development machine and the
production server.
Then I created a very very simple web application, which contains a
button and a label. When the button is clicked, some message is shown
on the label. That's it.
The AJAX works great on my development machine, but on the production
server, I got the typical error as follows:

My program shuts itself down and reboots the pc it's running on at
2:00am twice a week and has been doing so without fail for over a year.
But twice in the past month it's been found running in the AM with an
unhandled exception on the screen. As best I can tell this exception
occurs while it's trying to reboot the pc. This has me thinking it
might be nice to have it do a reboot whenever it has an unhandled
exception but then again I'm...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
