I'm an intermediate C++ programmer. My skills are good but they need
to be fine-tuned and my software methodologies in theory are good but
I need more practical experience . I am still in university pursuing
my bachelors in Comp Sci.
My old (and favorite) prof used to tell us the best way to learn a
language is to write a compiler. I know it's a big project, but the
guy did have a point. If you write a C++ compiler, you will have...

Hi there,
I've recently developed a VBA-program in Excel that fetches and presents
data from a distant Access database over a wireless peer-to-peer network
(both computers running Win XP Pro). It has worked relatively well for some
time, but recently I'm often encountering errors when trying to fetch the
data. I am pretty sure that this is because of a poor wireless connection
since I'm also having some problems e.g. copying files...

Thank you for any help you can give me. I have a database that I've
been working on... a backend for the server and front ends for the
users. Now I've found out that the network is wireless and that
wireless & Access don't get along... I have been reading what I could
find in this group... but I would like to clarify.
The users have Windows XP... so I put the backend on the server in the
root directory and put a front end for each user...

Hello,
I am working on an Acc2003 app for my company. In the interest of
reducing chances of corruption due to unstable network connectivity, I
would like to either prevent users from running it through a wireless
connection, or limit their use to read-only. I have absolutely no idea
if this is possible, and if so, how. Is there any way from within
Access to get the list of routers they are connecting through?
Ideally, I'd like to keep...

Anybody else ever had a problem like this?
Windows 2003 Domain with 180 machines,
21 of them with XP SP2 Laptop Wireless
access to the domain, on three different WIFI AP.
Randomly (and luckily infrequently) I am
"losing" my dhcp on wireless machines where
they will "drop" off the network suddenly
and then not reconnect even rebooting, yet
if I change to static IP they will reconnect
fine (I am trying to stem a flow since I

Hi - I just bought an Asus laptop with wireless capabilities. I have a desktop that I've used for years that is hooked up to Cox cable for high speed internet through a Motorola SG5120 cable modem. The modem is ethernet / USB compatible, but it currently hooks to my desktop with a USB cable.
I bought a Linksys wireless router last night and tried to install. The first problem was that I couldn't hook the USB cable from the desktop...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
