opening file in .net remoting

Hello Everyone,

I need to open a text file with .net remoting. This text file resides on
another server. My server program running on the server has this method that
opens the text file
System.Diagnost ics.Process.Sta rt(filePath);
My client program has a button which I click and it call the server
program method that opens the file. When I click the button, the file opens
on the server itself, is it possible that I can see that file opening on the
client.

Please let me know.

Thanks

I am working on a system, which among other things includes a server and a ..net control sitting in an html page and connected to the server. I ran into a couple of problems, you guys might have some insight about. 1) It takes 20 sec or so to open a tcp socket from the client to the server. It just sits in the TcpClient.conect waiting for something. When I run the same control from a windows application it connects right away and works...

Hi All, I am just trying to get an opinion here. I know this is always a tough choice to make. We are in the process of converting our VB6 based Healthcare Information System (a full-fledged package) to .NET. Our clients have been asking for lot of new stuff namely being able to send patient information to devices, being able to fix appointments online, etc.

When I register a remoting service programmatically things work great but when I register the service using a config file I get the error "Requested Service not found" when invoking a server activated object and "Type 'RemotingTest.ClientActivated, RemotableObjects, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not registered for activation" when attempting to call the client activated object. Can someone point out the...

What's the easiest/best way to open a single file from multiple applications but so only one can read it at a time? I tried a mutex but had problems. I noticed there is something called a ReaderWriter class but it says it's best for reads. I'll never be reading the file..... TIA - Jeff.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
