Hi.
I'm using a 3 tier FrontController Design for my web application right
now.
The problem is that I'm finding to have to duplicate a lot of code for
similar functions; for example, listing users, and listing assignments
use similar type commands. Is there a "better" way I can organize my
code?

I am working with VB.NET. It has just started losing my design view of
a form when I open a project. If the design view was open when I last
closed it, the view is there, but the Solution Explorer doesn't give a
tab for it, and the form in the Solution Explorer just shows as a .vb
file, not as a form icon. To fix it, I have to remove the file from
the project, then re-add it. And once it's gone wrong, it seems to
keep going wrong. Also, it...

Stop me if you've heard this, but I am running Access 2002 and all of
a sudden, if I design a particular form (it's been working fine for
ages), Access crashes rather than open it in design view.
Interestingly, it doesn't crash if I run the app and open it in form
view! Just if I attempt to design it.
If I compact/repair, it allows me to design the form once. On any
subsequent attempts to view in design mode, though, it crashes before...

Many (if not most) have said that code-behind is best if working in teams -
which does seem logical.
How do you deal with the flow of the work?
I have someone who is good at designing, but know nothing about ASP. He can
build the design of the pages in HTML with tables, labels, textboxes etc.
But then I would need to change them to ASP.net objects and write the code
to make the page work (normally I do this as I go - can't do this...

I'm getting the following error in Visual Studio when I try to switch to
Design View on an ASP .NET page I'm working on:
Could not open in Design View. Quote values differently inside a '<%
.... "value" ... %>' block.
The line of code that seems to be causing this is (sorry for any wrapping):
<a href='<%# "javascript:PreviewPicture('" +
DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Preview") + "', '" +

I am working on a project that requires me to be able to enumerate
through all the controls that may be selected (ie: showing their
selection handles) in a forms design view window. I have managed to
capture the active form and can iterate through all the controls on the
form but I want to be able to minimise the list to only the controls
with the selection handles are identified.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I have had a lot of problems getting web pages, master pages and
content pages to render in VS2005 design view the same as they would in
Internet Explorer. I did a lot of looking on the internet for answers
but didn't have much luck. Anyway I believe I have found the causes of
the problems and thought I should share them in case any one else is
feeling the pain and also to find out what other peoples opinions are,
on whether these...

Introduction
Usability and relevance have been identified as the major factors
preventing mass adoption of
Business Intelligence applications. What we have today are traditional
BI tools that don't work
nearly as well as they should, even for analysts and power users. The
reason they haven't
reached the masses is because most of the tools are so difficult to use
and reveal so little

Using Visual Basic 2005 (Express Edition), I've developed an XML schema on
my computer for use with a project that I'm working on with a coworker. On
his system, using the same version of visual studio, he is unable to view
the contents of the XSD file in design mode. When he clicks on the file in
the solution explorer, it goes directly to code view. When right clicking
on the file in solution explorer and selecting "view designer", he...

I'm using a tab control in Access 2000, and the user requested to have
buttons in the form header, instead of the built-in tabs (so that when they
scroll down, they can still switch tabs). Now, this works fine. However,
when I'm in Design View, I can't access the tabs without changing the tab
control's Style back to Tabs. But I want to be able to place controls in
that space at the top where the tabs used to be. But if I need to turn the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
