I think this is the basic concept in ASP server-side development. My boss told me web application is NOT client-server application. I argued with him because browser is the client, and the server code put in server. Then web application should be a client-server application. My understanding is that a web application is an application that runs on a browser. But client-server application is not necessary a web application. Please...

I've been tossing around an idea here in the shop for a while, and I am curious if anyone else out there would be interested. I am thinking of creating a server implementation for Access MDBs. It's a fairly straight-forward idea. The server would be a program that would listen for SQL commands, such as SELECTs or INSERTs to be sent to it (over TCP/IP). In turn, it would run the SQL against the local database and return either records...

I am developing a web based service tool using asp.net that we will distribute with our product. This service tool will be used for remotely configuring the product, problem determination, etc. One thing that I would like to be able to do is display a screen capture of our product running. I have the code to get the screen capture of the desktop and I also know how to send the image back to the client to be displayed. The problem is that...

I'm trying to get an existing VS.NET project up on my Win2003 server and I get the following error (on the actual website page): "It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
