I had previously posted this in an Access forum with negative results so will try here. Although this question specifies an Access database, I also wish to accomplish this with a large MS SQL Server database that we have. Question follows: The following SQL statement, used in VBScript,

I have a general question for anyone who would like to give me input. My boss is interested in making our interface backward compatible with all previous databases. I'm not really sure that's going to be possible without putting a lot of ugly and difficult to maintain if statements all throughout in the code. To be honest, I'm still a little inexperienced with general industry practices. What do most people do when they make changes to the...

Hi, I am uploading a file and changing a record in a database. When the database is updated, I retrieve the last_insert_id() to get the latest row key. I also have a Page_Load event that populates controls on the form. The Page_Load gets the information from the database, including the field that has the latest key from my database (say product id). The problem is that my upload event is slower than the Page_Load event

Hi All, I am having some trouble. I have created a database via the new database option inside VWD2005. Then and table or two. I have been able to perform INSERT and SELECT operations on the table, BUT cannot do an UPDATE. After the update command it says 1 row updated, but the data does not change. At one point I receieved a message stating something like (heavily paraphrased...):

Hello Needing help with a suitable solution. I have extracted records into a table under three columns 'category', 'comment' and share (the category column also holds the index no of the record in a hidden field) I wish the user to be able to edit the data in the table, so I have extracted the records into hiddenfield, textareas, dropdown list and checkbox so that they can make changes. I named these elements as arrays and wish to run an...

The ETL application loaded around 3000 rows in 14 seconds in a Development database while it took 2 hours to load in a UAT database. UAT db is partitioned. Dev db is not partitioned. the application looks for existing rows in the table...if they already exist then it updates otherwise inserts them. The table is pretty large, around 6.5 million rows.

On my machine in the office I change the computer setting to English (UK) so the date format is dd/mm/yyyy instead of mm/dd/yyyy for US. This problem happens in either Access or SQL Server. In the database I have a table with Date/time column. The database is located on a machine that is set to dd/mm/yyyy also. When I enter date 7/1/08 (as in January 7, 2008), it stores it in the database as 1/7/08 instead of 7/1/08. Why is it like that...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
