I know it's possible to use os.startfile() to open/execute a file based on
its extension, but when a file is not recognized, I get a WindowsError with
Errno 1155.
Is there any way (using wxPython) to popup the "Open With" dialog that
appears when trying to open an unrecognized file in Windows Explorer?
Thanks,
Micah

How can I get my code to NOT display two "Open/Save/Cancel/More Info" dialog boxes when using the "Response.WriteFile" method to download a file to IE
I've asked about this before and didn't get a satisfactory answer (check your browser) so now that I've had the time to set up a reasonable little test that I can post somewhere, I'll try again.
The app I've written has three ASPX pages. One is a combined page which writes a little text...

As a lot of us might now, the input file (aka browse button) in html does not
allow for multiple file selection or for filtering file types. The File Open
dialog used in WinForms allow these things and more.
I developed a windows user control in VB.NET with a button and File Open
Dialog, which allows multiple file selection. I registered the assembly with
regasm.exe and call the object from the html page with the object tag:
<OBJECT...

Notice below I sometimes used the "A" version. I found by cut-and-try that
only the "A" version would work correctly. Anyone have a suggestion of why
the "W" version would not work correctly?
One reason is that the ByRef or ByVal does not show by InteliSence so the
"p" would help there.

Secondly, I'd like to be consistent with the parameter names. I'd like to

Greetings,
I have a "newbie" question in relation to opening files from C#. I have
a Windows form where I allow the user to type in a file extension in a
text box (e.g., "xls"). I then take that extension and use that as my
filter criteria for the File Open dialog.
Once the user selects a file with that extension (from the File Open
dialog), I simply want to open that file (whether it is an .xls file,
.txt file, etc.). I am...

I have encountered the same problem another posted about several months

will let the original message text stand and ask if anyone can help me
with this..

Hi all,
I need to call windows' "open with" dialog from my C# windows form
application. After the user selects application, control must return to
me (I have to launch directly the process).
I found this solution:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/shell/openwith.aspx
but it's not good for me since it will execute the process directly.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
