8 New Member
Hi all,

we are creating a windows application using vb.net as front end and access as back end. we are not able to understand when we are creating a setup and deployment project for our application, but source files and forms disappear. We want to make some updations and changes to our source code we are not able to do it.

we would be grateful if somebody could explain what exactly happens when we create a setup project for a windows application. Now we are left with only setup project files.

Please respond as early as possible.

hi,

-->we had a solution of our project which was working

-->then we added a setup project to the existing project

-->While creating setup we chose the current solution as the project output
for the setup project.

-->after doing that we were able to create setup successfully

-->but we could not find any of our source files

I will appreciate if u can tell me the internal process which happens when we create setup.

If I want to upgrade my project, I require source code that is missing. Is there any chance to get the source files back if so how?

pls reply me asap.

Hi, I have a windows application, wherein the solution consists of 5 projects. When I try to create a setup and deployment project for this solution, I'm somehow unable to add anything in project output group. I tried creating with a setup wizard, but it just doesn't give me an option to add projects, although I was able to add files into the setup. Moreover, creating a normal setup project also did not help. I tried to add a new...

I have a C++ COM Addin I wrote for Outlook (2002) using VS.Net 2002. Having completed it, I am now looking to create a setup project and install it on another machine. I created a setup project and added it to my solution (selecting the "Primary Output" as the files to include from my project). However, when I attempt to build the setup project (assuming a clean output directory), I get "Unrecoverable build error" - and NO other...

Hello all: I have a machine running IIS 5.1 on which I have installed VS 2003. I have run aspnet_regiis.exe -u and aspnet_regiis.exe -i. When I open VS 2003 and attempt to create an ASP.NET project, the IDE hangs. Furthermore, I am unable to get IE to display the default.htm (or any other web page) either by referencing "localhost" or the machine name in the URL (e.g., "http://localhost/etc." does not work)... I get the "Page cannot be...

I have a bunch of .dll "drivers" that are built to a common directory. Is there a way to add all of the files in that directory to a setup project's file system. Basically I would like to be able to add new "drivers" without modifying the setup file. Are there Post Build Event variables for the setup project's "Application folder"? Thanks for any help -Sam

Hey all, I have a setup / deployment project that is used to create builds for my web project. I can very easily invoke this manually, in the IDE, to get the packaged MSI file. However, I would like to be able to invoke the packaging of this MSI file from the command line, so that I can embed it in a script. Anyone know what this command line statement would be?

I have set the File Types properties in my Deployment project in Visual Studio .NET 2003. It works correctly, almost. When I right click on the file type, it offers my application as the default 'OPEN'. But if the user clicks on 'Open With..' my application is first, but has no name in the list. I see my icon, but not the application name. Has anyone else encountered this? Thanks, Mark

I have a simple vb.net application that I have created a setup project for.The application is a single exe and uses an app.config filem My question is, how do I go about upgrading the application whenever I make any updates to my code? Within the setup project, I see I can set the installer to automatically remove the old version, but I don't really want to do that since it may overlay my custom settings in my app.config. I really want...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
