Just a general question...
I'm currently using a combobox that when updated, opens a form with
its recordset based on a query using the combo box value as the
criteria.
I'm I correct in thinking that using:
docmd.openfrm "frmName",,,where "=" & cboSelectID
will open all records and then just navigate to that filtered record,
which is not as fast/efficient as using a query where the criteria is

I know there are several ways to speed up combo boxes and form
loading. Most of the solutions leave rowsource of the combo box blank
and set the rowsource to a saved query or an SQL with a where clause
after users typed in one or several letters/digits.
My problem is as follows
Most of the time I need to display form in continuous format, that
means the combo box will appear in each record.
For example I have a form to let users view...

Hi, I'm in the midst of designing a pretty code intensive form that will
be the centrepiece of an app I'm working on. It has a very large number
of combo boxes (which use pass through queries to an Oracle database) on it.
My approach to such a form is to NEVER have the row sources for the
combo boxes load immediately, ie, by default, the row source is simple
null in the properties window. I use the on got focus event to put
together...

Hi,
I'm trying to speed up the loading of my forms. One problem that I
have(probably) is that I have many subforms in the form that I'm trying
to speed up. I can't change that now, but I will redesign for a future
upgrade.
I heard having proper indexes may also speed up form loading. So I was
wondering, if 2 tables have a 1 to many relationship, should both
fields be indexed? I read somewhere that if a field has many records
with the...

Hello,
I am a bit of a newbie to VB.NET, but not totally new. I took the
plunge recently and decided (along with my colleagues), to try to
convert/port a VB6 client/server app to .Net.
(I'm not using any upgrade tools, I'm just re-writing).
I have be learning/testing .net with SDI type forms and now I'm
actually working on the conversion, I'm starting to worry that VB.net

Using VB 2005 Beta.
I have a form containing a DataGirdView. The cell enter, cell validating,
row enter, row validating events have a good bit of code that gets excuted
for each of these events. I have noticed that when the form loads, each of
these events run 3 times, before the form is ready for interaction with the
user. I would like to set a boolean variable to true when the form first
starts loading and change it's value when the...

Is there an event that triggers as a form is loading? I want to
display a "loading form" event as the form is loading since it tends to
take 20 second or so to open.
TIA

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
