HI, all. Sorry for posting to so many groups, but I really don't know in which group this question fits best. Anyways, here goes... I have a bunch of DTS packages that my client application runs. I also have a deployment package for my application, which deploys all the DTS files (as described in http://sqldev.net/dts/DotNETCookBook.htm ) on the client.

I as a developer have an application that I can run from my box or from a shared drive, but I cannot get anybody else to run it. They do have the same version of the framework on their boxes, yet they are unable to run the application. What do I need to do. The error is not a security exception

Good Afternoon, I need to distribute an application which includes the run time files for Access 2002. I do have the Office XP Developer CD’s. The application itself is written in VB 6 with an Access back-end. I have created a number of reports in Access and I am starting them from the Visual Basic Front End. However, I have a number of users who do not have a copy of Access which means they will obviously need the run time files. ...

I am reposting in this group after getting no response for a week in the deployment group. I have a setup project that uses custom actions. The project installs and runs fine on machines that have the .NET framework 1.1, but fails on machines that have .NET framework 1.1 SP1. The specific error message is: "Unable to get installer types in the <assembly path> assembly. One or more of the types in the assembly unable to load"

I have a web service and a deployment project. Inside the deployment project, is a custom action to create some database related items such as stored procedures. I have this packaged as an msi, and can run the deployment on win2k, win2k server, and winxp without problems. The database related part of the custom deployment action uses integrated security to login (SSPI). When tracing the deployments using sql profiler from any of the...

Hi, I am using VS 2005, .NET 2.0 and have the following problem: I have created a simple WinForms application and have added a reference to the ADO Interop PIA library;(ADODB.dll). When I add a Setup Package project, and add the "Primary Output", it does NOT detect that ADODB.dll is needed and thus does not get added to my deployment package making it unuseable to my end-users. Why does it not detect the presence of ADODB.dll? I...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
