Hello All!
I'am novice in python, and I find one very bad thing (from my point of view) in
language. There is no keyword or syntax to declare variable, like 'var' in
Pascal, or special syntax in C. It can cause very ugly errors,like this:
epsilon=0
S=0
while epsilon<10:
S=S+epsilon

Let's say I have the following source code in C++:
// The following is in a .cpp file
int val = 0;
for ( int i = 0; i < 10; i++ )
val = i;
// Now I'm in a python GUI, glade or GTK

This has to do with class variables and instances variables.
Given the following:

Ok, I have done a lot of reading(of the newsgroup answers, help files and
MSDN articles) of synclock.
I understand what you are saying in the newsgroup, and it is very helpful.
It does, however, directly contradict what the VS 2003 help file says, and
it seems that various posters to my original questions on Synclock disagree
with each other. It seems, that the best practice is to use sysnlock to
protect code, not variables. That...

Folks,
Here's a write-up I did for our developer wiki. I don't know if the
whole rest of the world has already figured out how to do this, but I
hadn't ever seen it implemented, and had spent a lot of time trying to
figure it out, over the years. It finally dawned on me a couple of
weeks ago how to do this.
A couple of notes:
1) This is written for a different audience than CDMA; it's written for

When is it appropriate to use "volatile" keyword? The docs simply
state:
"
The volatile modifier is usually used for a field that is accessed by
multiple threads without using the lock Statement (C# Reference)
statement to serialize access.
"
But when is it better to use "volatile" instead of "lock" ?

Hi.
I've got a question on the differences and how to define static and
class variables. AFAIK, class methods are the ones which receives the
class itself as an argument, while static methods are the one which
runs statically with the defining class.
Hence, my understanding is that static variables must be bound to the
class defining the variables and shared by children of parent class
where the variable is defined. But, please have a...

LINQ works a lot like an Access DB Recordset in the way it functions, one of
the things I could do in Access is refer to the Fields thru a Variable as
below allowing me to Iterate over the Recordset with a test or slight change
to field names. Is there a way to Replicate this Method in LINQ, I've tried
setting the Variable as an Object "Dim tDayID AS Object = "tem.Day" & 1" but
it did not work?
IN ACCESS:
Dim DaI As String
DaI =...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
