>> Reporting Tool

Hi, we have a number of clients that range from corporates to single users.
Currently our applications are written in MS Access. However the corporates
are requesting that we migrate to dot Net and MS SQL. One of the advantages
of MS Access is the built-in reporting capability.

My question is what reporting tool can you suggest that can be bundled with
a dot Net application and will run on a stand-alone PC (with SQL Express) as
effectively as on a networked corporate machine? It will also be easy to
program in the IDE using VB language.

Many thanks,
Jonathan

I would appreciate some help on how to convert a database table into an html file via FSO and whether more seasoned asp programmers recommned this route. The main reason I am attempting to do this is becuase we are constantly being told by so-called marketing gurus that 'html' pages are more search engine friendly. Other advantages include speed of download. Will there be any problems with using this approach besides establishing...

Hello! We have following situation; network with 100 users, aplication developed in Access, user DB deployed on SQL Server. Is it better to create query inside aplication (with code) and then pass it to SQL Server for execution or is it better to have all these queries saved like stored procedures and then called from aplication?

I am writing a tool to generate html and have a problem with the <img> tag. The tool generates something like "<img src="...">". At the time the html is generated, the tool does not know the actual image size, but I do want to resize any image so that their width and height will both be smaller than 100. I also want to keep the iamge width/height ration so the image looks "normal". If I use <img src="..." width=100 height=100> the image...

Something strange is happening, but I bet it is a quick fix. My favicon image is showing up in the URL bar, for a couple of seconds, but then it disappears and the default browser icon is displayed. When I reload the page, the same thing happens. The correct icon appears for a few seconds (while the page is loading), but then goes away. You can see that here: http://webdev.ucop.edu/tltc_ph2/index_icon.html

Hi Guys, I've been trawling through this group for an answer to this but can't find one that works. I have an Access 97 db sitting on a Novell server that is accessed via a front end with linked tables. There are several users that need access to this db but some get the "Couldn't us <filenameFile already in use" error. Every user has the same level of access rights to the server and their accounts are all identical but some still...

I'm looking for a pattern where different client implementations can use the same commands of some fictive tool ("foo") by accessing some kind of API. Actually I have the need for such pattern for my own tool (http://openswarm.sourceforge.net). I already started restructuring my code to separate the actual command implementations from the command-line scripts (which is optparser-based now) and have some ideas how to proceed. But probably...

Has anyone constructed a SOAP request with Classic ASP and sent it to SQL Server Reporting Services to render a report formatted as PDF to a browser (and dealt with the SOAP response)? I'm not talking about URL access, but accessing the SSRS web service directly with SOAP (passing credentials, parameters, format, etc.) There seems to be nothing out there for ASP 3.0 - it's ALL .NET. Thanks for any direction or examples.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
