I am coming from (an elementary-level) javascript background. I set
cookiesin select pages to see where the users are coming from and where
they are going. It works quite nicely except that I'd like to write the
data into a file and look at it. I have reached a dead end with JS it
seems. I have thought about implementing the same with PHP (I know
nothing about it but I'm willing to learn) but the disadvantage of PHP
as I understand is that...

To better manage our secure site we just separated the registration and
checkout sections of our web into separate virtual directories. These new
virtual directories are on the same server as the primary eCommerce website.
This is an ASP site (not asp.net). When this version goes into production it
will be on a 2003 server (IIS 6) with a SQL Server backend (located on a
different server).
Now when the main server passes control to one of...

Hello,
Currently all of my php pages use SSL, not just my initial login.
Originally I thought this would be more secure, but after thinking about
things and looking at sites like Amazon and Gmail, they all SSL the
login scripts and then use regular http for everything else, which I'm
sure speeds things up without the encrypt/decrypt process.
I was going to change my scripts to reflect this model, but I saw in the
php manual the...

I posted a few days ago concerning requests being blocked from a main window
after a popup window had initiated a file download. Apparently this has to
do with the fact that asp.net or iis serialize all requests from the same
session. Further requests from the same session are being queued until the
download is complete. So, is there any way to override this? Is there
anyway to tell asp.net to not serialize same session requests? Is...

On each page:
// What page to go to next

Hi All :-)
We have an APSX application using VB.net as the code behind, which uses one
or two session variables per page. These Session variables are passed to
the final page and calculations and summaries are done there. In order for
all of the values to appear on the last page, the user has to view each page
that has a session variable to be passed to the last page. The only way I
can think of to bypass the necessity of the user...

I had this idea about preventing session fixation, and I'm wondering
what anyone else thinks about it. The idea is, essentially, don't
allow session ids that YOUR PHP didn't generate (and aren't yet
expired) to log in. That way if someone sticks a made-up session
ID on a URL, it won't matter, unless it happens to correspond to
an active session (guessing a user password is probably easier).
Is this already standard practice, new, or is...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
