Authenticode, choice of CA, pricing?

Hi, I was looking into getting an Authenticode certificate for the
first time, so that we can sign our assemblies and installers etc. I
looked at a few and saw a wide range of prices;
Comodo, $179 http://www.instantssl.com/code-signing/

Thwate (via a referrer link) $199
https://www.t-refer.com/core/process...ode=CAINDIGO-1

Thwate (without a referrer link) $299 (!!whats that all about?)
https://www.thawte.com/ssl-digital-c...dTo-SecureCode

Verisign $499 http://www.verisign.com/
Assuming equal customer service and time taken to issue a certificate,
what differences should I be looking for?

I'm assuming I could buy any of the above and use it to sign a .NET
exe or MSI installer so that Vista users wouldn't be told that we're
an unknown source.

Any experiences or advice please.

Thanks
Jim

Just a note, I notice that Thwate renewals are $159, so they could in
theory end up cheaper than Comodo (assuming pricing doesnt change!).

Where can I get pricing on all the various db2 versions and components? I've just spent thirty minutes trying to find this info, but IBM has really mangled the db2 site - with millions of almost identical pages... I did find some prices via passport advantage - but the info provided was so brief that I really couldn't tell if the price was by CPU, if multi-core counted, by server, etc.

To Microsoft and fellow MSDN Universal subscribers... Regarding new MSDN Universal (I mean Premier) price and level changes: 1) Way too expensive for the small and medium developer Universal subscriber (and some large ones as well). $10,000 - $15,000 per user?!? Forget it! 2) Do you (MS) honestly believe that the market you are targeting will just buy this product on good faith? Without our recommendations? Think about

What does a typical Ms Access w/ native jet engine "no splitting" "only for 5 users" usually go for? Request: Inventory db w/ 8 user friendly forms & 8 reports. Nothing fancy, I realize the prices can be scattered, but generally a GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE what seems to be the normal price for a developer to charge? --

In .Net we can do digital signing of files. Visual studio provides easy means of doign this. I also know that there is Authenticode signing which gives one more level of security as it gives assurance about who published and also there is a Certification Authority involved. Has anyone really explored this and the usage of this in dotnet. When should we use what? Are there any pros and cons. Can both be used for all kind of .NET...

I am putting together a system that uses Authenticode to verify that critical files are not tampered with. This is one of the purposes for Authenticode. At run-time, I use CAPICOM to verify that the Authenticode signature is still present and is still valid - thus ensuring that the file remains unaltered. Now... along comes Windows Vista. Microsoft's own documentation for CAPICOM explicitly states that CAPICOM is no longer supported as of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
