windows service with ipc channel

1 New Member
Hi

I would like to see an example, how can i write an windows service, which communicates with IPC Channel and a Form GUI.

I have written some tests, but i receive an IPC-Port error: Access denied.

I would like see an example, where i can see the functionality with IPC-Channel + Windows Servcice + GUI.

Nice to have: implemented eventhandling, that the windows service update the GUI, when something changes in the services!

best regards
toprak

Hey all.... I'm writing an app that needs to send/recieve data from other applications running, I guess you could think of it as a data relay broker between running applications. I had planned on creating a windows service to handle this, but I found out that I cannot directly send/recieve data here, i can only signal it. First off, am I wrong in this assumption? Secondly, I have also noticed some people talking about creating a...

Backround: I am trying to figure out how to do the equivalant of a classic COM Local Server Singleton in .NET/C#. I created a coupld of simple Class Libs that exposes public interfaces and hosted them in a Windows Forms EXE. Create a Windows Forms client and both the Client and the Host EXEs configure the remoting protocols through respective .config files. Problem: I want to change the host from an Win Forms EXE to a Windows Service.

I am going to write (my first) Windows Service. What I want is this service to run automatically when the computer/server is booted.... But also, to display an icon in the system tray whenever any user logs onto the computer (to display status, allow preference setting for the service, etc). I am well versed in .NET and VB.NET, but I haven't written a service before. Just curious as to exactly how to make the service so that it not only...

I need some help regarding the mechanism to put in place to be able to dynamically update a remote object when the assembly where it is defined is modified, and this whitout having service interruption. Basically what I'm missing is how do we re-expose a remote object when assembly has changed, and this without any interruption to the callers. I have an application that exposes a remoting object (Well known service - Singleton or...

I need to call a console app (dtexec) from a windows service in a client/server architecture. I have the application setup so that the client application is called with a package name, which makes a call to a dll on the remote server. I have read up on this on the web and I know that you can't run a GUI app from within windows service, but apparently console apps are ok. I am trying exactly that but it's not working. Here is my code: ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
