Click Once and Signing issues

Using VS2005 and Team Systems, I use Click Once to build and deploy my
Windows Forms application from my desktop onto a network share. On the
project's property page on the Signing tab, I check the Sign the ClickOnce
manifests check box. The certificate indicates it was issed to and by me
with Intended Purpose = <alland an expiration date one year from today.
The process deploys the app properly and users can download and install/run
it.

The problem is the other developers on my team cannot access the certificate
for some reason. They get a compile error that s says "Error - Unable to
find manifest signing certificate in the certificate store". What do I need
to do to allow the other developers to access this certificate? Do I need to
publish a file of some type in source control?

I have a couple of questions around code signing with MS technology: 1. Is there a way to transfer the generated strong name signing private key directly to a smartcard (or generate it on the smart card), without the unsecure intermediate storage to the filesystem using sn -k and sn -i? 2. What is the format of the key files produced by sn -k and sn -p? 3. Is there a way to generate a PKCS#10 format certificate request from the sn -p...

I have a class library that was created in VB.net 2003 and registered as COM object so that Visual Foxpro 7 can access the library. At this time we have to use an MSI installer package to install on every workstation the code resides. Is it possible to deploy this dll with click-once and have it check for updates at this time all I see is the ability to deploy .net EXEs with click once. Any help or examples or ideas would be greatly...

I have an application that I've used click-once deployment to publish out to a shared network path. From there I installed the app on a few client machines, including my own. Since then I published a few updates that were recognized by the app, and the users installed them, so everyone's on the most current version. A couple of glitches are now showing up. 1. One of my users received a prompt when she opened up the app that there is a...

I am trying to understand the difference between signing ClickOnce manifests and signing shared assemblies. My company is building .Net 2005 WinForm applications for internal company use only. Currently, the ClickOnce security settings on the applications is set for "Full Trust". We are using shared assemblies across development groups, but none of these assemblies are signed with strong names since signing assemblies is only required when...

Greetings, I have been using the Click Once deployment feature of VS2005 - very nice. I had IE6 at the time when I started using Click Once Deployment, and everything worked fine. But then my workstation got upgraded to IE7, and now whenever I deploy an application and IE7 comes up for the Install page - it just says "Connecting..." and just hangs, and then I have to manually end the program. I did not have this problem with IE6. Are...

I have a control that need to perform one behavior when it's Clicked and a different behavior when it's DoubleClicked. It seems that you can't get a DoubleClick without first getting a Click. So what's the best way to keep from executing the click functionality before it's determined if it's a double click or not? Or do I just have to "undo" the Click stuff everytime a DoubleClick is received? Thanks. J

I have an office application that I would like to publish from a network location, that gets backed up, and offer updates to users as they become available. Apparently this is exactly what "click once" does. Since this is a small office, I have little need for code security, and would prefer to do without the signing/certificate/expiration hassles. Do I need to use signing at all? Is there a way to shut it off? Can someone offer...

Anybody use Strong Name Signing? I think this is used by default for Resource files, which is one reason perhaps I can't get my resource files to work (somehow the public key is messed up, perhaps since I've installed so many versions of Visual Studio) RL http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/h4fa028b.aspx Deployment in Visual Studio

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
