I have an application written in c$ that needs to be run in 3 different
terminal server sessions on a windows 2003 server. Everything will
work fine for about an hour, after this point the applications thread
will no longer be able to create an custom object.
I will continually get the error
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
any ideas? It always seems to happen around an hour of run, and if I

Hi peoples,
I dont know where to place this question, so as I know you guys are all
resourceful experts, I thought I would try here.
I am writing some code which will be run usingh remote desktop ( On windows
2003 Server ), I need to determine in the code the machine name and
username. If I use GetUsername and GetMachineName, it simply gives me the
name of the currently logged on user ( at the Server ) and the Servers
Machine Name.

Is there any way in a .NET App to detect if it is being run under Terminal
Server?
I have some functions of my program (like launching emails, and saving
files) that need to be handled differently if the user is running it
locally, or if they're running under Terminal Server.

Is it possible to detect whether my application is running within a Terminal
Server session or not?
I'd like to automatically switch off some of my graphics rendering under
this environment as they can be quite slow to transfer over a terminal
server session. The graphics should still be displayed when running directly
on a local session.
Thanks,

runs under the credentials of a different user. If I try to see the current
user throught the application I can only see the user that started the
thread. How can I see the user that is logged in??
I tried the following code:

I am interested in scanning web pages for content of interest, and then
auto-classifying that content. I have tables of metadata that I can use for
the classification, e.g. : "John P. Jones" "Jane T. Smith" "Fred Barzowsky"
"Department of Oncology" "Office of Student Affairs" "Lewis Hall" etc. etc.
etc.
I am wondering what the efficient way to do this in code might be. The dumb
and brute-force way would be to loop through the content...

We have numerous Access 97 apps that we run on our Terminal Server,
but two apps in particular is giving us a problem. The problem we are
running into is when you select a drop down menu, it errors out saying
the SQL server cannot be found. This is through the terminal session
and when logged on the server locally.
If I run the apps on my workstation they work fine.
In one of the problem apps, it runs flawless except for a similar...

I created an Access 2007 application for my customer. The application is
shared by three employees on a server. It maintains a contact list including
financial data and social security numbers. Only the office manager
generates reports in Access from this client data.
Now they want to share this Access application with employees at a remote
office. They expect to have a maximum of 30 employees editing the client
list in both the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
