Hi there, hope someone can help me on this:
I'm planning to deploy several ASP.NET projects to a production server.
Normally I used the "Project / Copy project" option in VS.NET, but to this
production server I only have FTP access. I tried copying the files with a
FTP tool, but it seems that every application needs to have an own virtual
directory, is this true? Or is it possible to just make 1 virtual directory
and put al the projects...

A very reputable 3rd party web host will not install deploy this control to
the GAC, they told me they have to do all of this testing, etc. so it's going
to be a while. My question is, can I copy the .dll files to the /bin of My
ASP.NET 2.0 web app and reference those, so I don't have to have it installed
in the GAC.
I'm pretty deperate to get this to work, I dont want to have to move to a
dedicated server just so I can run the...

Note: This is the full version of a Post that I inadvertently sent before it
was complete.
About a year ago I wrote a VB.NET 2003 solution that consists of a number
of assemblies (1 EXE and 15 DLLS). As I recall, in order to deploy the
solution to a testing server I simply copied the contents of the Bin folder
in the development area where the compiled assemblies reside. Be patient
with me here, because I haven't used...

I created a VWD Express project, which uses the ReportViewer control,
on my local machine. I had to download the ReportViewer control from
MS and install it on my machine in order for this to work.
I have the project working on my local machine, but I am running into
some problems trying to deploy to another development server....

I'm still stuck on the .dll and bin folder mentality in 1.1. When
deploying a 2.0 web application, there is no web .dll to deploy?
So is this how we deploy in 2.0?
1. Copy the app_code folder
2. Copy the bin directory containing any pre-compiled dlls
3. Move BOTH aspx AND aspx.vb files into the applicable directories
(is this correct?)
If so, we're just duplicating the file system from the development

Hi,
I usually deploy my ASP .NET application to the server by publishing, using
Visual Studio 2005 publish feature. This creates the Bin folder on the
server, with the compiled DLLs.
I've been asked to publish by copying the files manually instead.
I stopped IIS for the application,
deleted the application files and subfolders from the server,
copied the files and folders from my local PC's project,

I have a Reporting Services report that I need to display in an
ASP.NET web page using the ReportViewer. However I can't link the
Reporting Services report (.rdl) to the ReportViewer! I have the
ReportViewer.LocalReport.ReportPath set to the path of the .rdl report
but the report still dosen't display.
