Dear reader,
In an attempt to obtain the path to the quick-launch-folder in order to
create a shortcut to my application-updates during installation , I thought
to:
1- check if quick launch is used by the user
2- check if a link to my application is there
3- if so, obtain the path (ANY PATH) to the quick-launch-folder from
existing button(s)

Thanks for taking the time to read my question and hopefully it will
be understandable.
I have a need to read a record in a table and place the information in
public variables that can be used in several forms and reports. Is
this an easy process and how would I do this.
I know how to read the data and place them in the variables but I
can't figure out how to automate this at startup.

Hello everyone,
While it seems simple to me, I just want to have a URL in my windows
application that people can click and then launch the URL in the default
browser. Same thing with a mailto: link.
Here is the code i'm trying to use which comes straight from the microsoft
site:
string target= "http://www.microsoft.com";

I have a c# windows form that talks to a web service on a server that then
can talk to multiple "agents" on different machines using web service calls.
I want to be able to launch an application of the users choice on the
remove, "agent" machine.
I've discovered that Process.Start() won't work because it runs under
asp.net and it will launch any "process" but if the application has a
windows UI it will not show.

Hi
I am in need of a way to launch my WinForms-app (app.exe) just by pressing a
keyboard combination like (Ctrl-Alt-P).
This functionality should be present "out of the box" after the app
(app.exe) is deployed on the Client's PC. The only way I know - is to place
a shortcut on the desktop and associate a "ShortCut Key" to it by
right-clicking on the shorcut on the desktop.
Now - how do I, do that during installation using Windows...

I have a requirement to initiate more than one instance of an
application using the filenames. (the example below will start two
instances of MS Word).
My problem is that I need to kill each instance individually, but this
does not appear possible using the Process object. When I run the
example below the process object "p" can be viewed using Quick Watch
however process object p2 is displayed as undefined, with the added
affect of not...

I have this application I have made that I launch when the user logs
into Windows XP.
I would like to delay the launch of the application so that it starts 1
minute after the user has logged in.
I previously did this with a sleep at the first row of the source code,
but this makes the process visible in the task manager's processes tab
during the sleep (before the "real application" is actually running),
and I dont want that.

Greetings,
I am deploying vb2005 apps using Click Once deployment. This works fine.
The problem is that the user needs to be able to launch a 2nd app from the
1st app, but the application startup paths are different for each user.
However, the shortcuts for these apps are created in the same Start directory
for each user.
Is it possible to launch app2 from app1 by calling the shortcut of app2 (or
vice versa)? How to do this? Or, how...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
