Current Topics/Discussions

Could it not be possible to have currently discussed and newly posted to
topics returned to the top of the list. It's not long before a topic gets
lost as new ones come up. I have noticed for a long time now that if someone
hasn't the opportunity to post to the topic on a regular basis a new post
tends to go unnoticed and the topic invariably becomes unresolved.

Could one of the MVPs mention it to the powers that be please?

Regards,

Kevin

I don't think that's something that can be done on the server side. You
might want to talk to your usenet client vendor.

Your newsreader programme might allow you to watch a thread - so you can see
when it gets new messages posted to it. Thats what we do so we know which
threads our posts have had responses into.

Ditto about the web version. many companies don't allow their developers (or
anyone else) newsgroup access, so the web version is the only access.

I am actually trying to get the UNC path of the main module of a process running from a mapped drive, and I am trying to do this from a service. The ProcessModule class only provides the full path with the mapped drive letter, but the drive letter refers to the drive mapping for the user that started the process, and cannot be resolved to a UNC path from a service running under LocalSystem. Presumably, therefore, I need to get the drive...

Greetings! I wrote a small Exe that simply runs Shell to load PowerPoint and launch a particular file, depending on the day of the week. However, it was set up for office 2003 (I naively hardcoded the path) and I also used Shell. Does anybody have a snipped showing a more efficient method for launching a Powerpoint file, regardless of which version of Office is running? My current, ineffecient code: Sub main() Try

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
