ASP.NET 2.0 XHTML validation problem with "Center"

1 New Member
I've been banging my head on this one for a while now, so maybe someone else can figure out what's wrong here. I have several tables throughout my site which are defined using:

<asp:Table ID="tbl1" runat="server" HorizontalAlign ="center" CellPadding="0" CellSpacing="0" >

...plus the rest of the table. The tables center properly in the browser, but when I try to validate the site with the W3C validator at validator.w3.or g I get:

This page is not Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!
Validation Output: 1 Error
Line 376, Column 90: value of attribute "align" cannot be "Center"; must be one of "left", "center", "right".
…ing="0" cellpadding="0" align="Center" border="0">
The value of the attribute is defined to be one of a list of possible values but in the document it contained something that is not allowed for that type of attribute. For instance, the “selected” attribute must be either minimized as “selected” or spelled out in full as “selected="sele cted"”; a value like “selected="true "” is not allowed.

Is there a setting somewhere is VS2005 that will cause the output to be rendered properly, or am I doing something else wrong? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I'm currently trying to move from MS SQLServer to MySQL, running on windows XP. When trying to connect to mysql on localhost with mysql control center I get the 2013-error "Lost connection to MySQL server during query". I can connect from command line. If I do so, and change passwords by using OLD_PASSWORD('<password>'), control center runs nicely, but then ByteFX fails to connect with "Access denied for user...".

Hello, When centering a block of HTML, in the past, I've always used: <div align="center"> ... </div> However, in VS 2005, I get the following warning: "Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional): Attribute 'align' is considered outdated. A newer construct is recommended."

Hello, A client requested a layout that has links in sections, displayed something like http://www.kidsinaction.org.uk/table.html, which is a mock-up, laid out with a table. Specifically, he wants the layout to adapt to the browser window, which the table version does. If you change the width of the window, the two sections move horizontally, so that they always sit equally spaced out. I would like to do a similar thing in CSS, but am...

Here's a (new?) variation on using negative margins to get a three- column layout - I've used the example HTML from A List Apart's article by Alan Pearce: http://alistapart.com/articles/multicolumnlayouts for comparison's sake, but note the CSS layout method is quite different, using padding on an "inner wrapper" div within the center, rather than borders.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
