Raise Event in User Control and Catch in a Page

3 New Member
Hi I have been trying to raise an event in the user control. The problem is I always get null reference in the event and my event never gets fired. Can someone help me?
The Code I have written is as follows:

// Decelerating the delegate and event

public delegate void OnButtonClick(s tring strValue);
public event OnButtonClick OtherMonth;

protected void Page_Load(objec t sender, EventArgs e)
{

// Raising the event from a button click
// Check if event is null
if (OtherMonth != null)
OtherMonth(stri ng.Empty);

In the Page where I need to catch the event
protected void Page_Load(objec t sender, EventArgs e)
{
displayInfo.Oth erMonth += new UserControls_di splayinfo.OnBut tonClick(displa yInfo_OtherMont h);

Finallying Handeling the Event
private void displayInfo_Oth erMonth(object sender, System.Web.UI.W ebControls.Comm andEventArgs e)
{
// Do some thing
}

Are u wanting to catch the event in the other page?
as far as I know, asp .net won't do that

I 'd rather do this:
in the function that handle button_click put something like this
this.Response.R edirect("otherP age.aspx?value= 5");

then catch it in the otherPage.aspx load function
int theValue = Convert.ToInt32 (this.Request.Q ueryString.Get( "value"));

Hi,
Thanks for the answer but that will not help me. I have a user control in a page and I want to raise an even in the user control and catch it in the page containing the user control. I have seen a lot of post with examples for this but my problem is that the event is always null. What I have missed or did do wrong. I would appricate if some one could help me in fixing the problem.

Your delegate declaration type does not appear to match your implementation.
Which would probably give you a null reference exception.

Hi Using VS.NET 2003, Windows XP SP1, We have a page which has been developed using ASP.NET. On it, is a button which when clicked is supposed to add some data to a table. When the button is selected, it causes the ServerClick event to be called twice. Here's the code: You'll see that there are two grids on the page, and that the function SetupDataGrid populates data to the two grid. There are also

I know Visual Studio lacked support on easily writing code to raise events from a ascx user control ( because you have to hand write them). (http://codebetter.com/blogs/brendan.tompkins/archive/2004/10/06/27795.aspx) Question: Is it better and easier now in ASPNET 2.0 , meaning VS 2005?

I am trying to raise a custom event in this user control passing custom data arguments. I have done this many times in VB but this is my first time in C#.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
