VB.NET File in use? IO.File.Exist() no working?

1 New Member
Hey all-
I am trying to move files when they become avaiable, but am having no luck. Everything I have read talks about using IO.File.Exist(m yfile), but this still does not work. I thought about trying to change the name, but that seemed kind of left handed. Any suggestions...T his is what I thinking.

If fileready(myfil e) Then
'Move file
Else
'Count or do something then try again.
End if.

Dim strFilePath, strFileName As String
strFileName = e.Name
strFilePath = e.FullPath
Dim strFTPImportSta gingPath As String = ConfigurationMa nager.AppSettin gs("xmlFTPImpor tStagingPath"). ToString
strFTPImportSta gingPath = strFTPImportSta gingPath & "\" & strFileName
If (IO.File.Exists (strFilePath)) = True Then
Try
IO.File.Move(st rFilePath, strFTPImportSta gingPath)
Catch ex As Exception
LogWriter("Coul d not move file from: " & strFilePath & " To : " & strFTPImportSta gingPath & " EX: " & ex.ToString)
End Try
End If

What do you mean by "not working"?
In the past everyone who has said it doesn't work, turned out to have a typo in their path/filename combination.

I'm using Microsoft's own VB.NET FTP Example: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;832679 I can get the program to create directories, change directories, etc., but I can't get it to upload a file to the FTP server. I just get a "Cannot connect to remote server" error after this TRY: s = New Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp)

This seems a trival question, but I cannot get it to work properly... Essentially my question is, how can I create a text file, and guarantee it is given the current date/time as the Creation Time? My code is creating a file correctly, but the CreationTime is (sometimes) set to the CreationTime of an old file that has previously been removed. The line of code creating the file is _LogFileWriter = newFile.CreateText()

Hello, I am a newbie to PHP, MySQL. I am trying to create a basic file upload form. I want to get that working and then I want to integrate that into a form that will rename the file and save it to a directory and store the path to the file in the db, in addition to storing other text from other fields in the form. Then I will get that path using PHP to display the image file in a browser. First things first, I'm having difficulty...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
