Winforms client resizing sluggish

8 New Member
Hey guys,

I have a form with several textboxes (15+) that are in a tablelayoutpane l so they scale when the form is resized. Now when I resize the form, the action is very sluggish and slow.

I'm looking for best practices to improve performance on resizing the form. Are there any suggestions or resources to help me understand the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks!

I saw the following requirement somewhere: "....using WinForms and the screens should be described in XML. The XML is to prescribe both the layout as well as the connectivity to the underlying model" Can someone tell me how a Windows Form can be described in XML?

We are developing a Winforms app that retrieves data from our company's SQL Server 2000 database via a webservice. We are considering using something like client certificates so that we have a clear indication that the client using the software is authenticated. Even though it is a Winforms app, we can't use the user's Windows login ID since it's on a client/customer's machine and we do not want to have access to their loginIDs. We will...

I need a little help here please. I have 2 win forms user controls in 2 different projects that I'm hosting in 2 different virtual directories. The controls have been test and operate okay in both projects. Both controls(dlls) have been signed using SN.exe and I've set up the appropriate .Net assembly permissions using those Strong Names The DLL's have been copied to the /bin directory in both web virtual directories.

I have a Winforms app written in .Net 1.1 (C#) that runs great so long as Outlook isn't open. As soon as I have Outlook running, the entire computer becomes sluggish and Outlook simply stops working for the most part. If, for instance, I have both my app and Outlook running and I try to open an email, outlook becomes unresponsive until I close my app again. Can anyone suggest a good way to track down what is causing this behaviour....

Guys, I've been designing applications for the financial services industry using MSFT technologies for many years (Win32 API, MFC, and now .NET WinForms). All applications are Internet-based, with a "thick client" which makes calls to my grid of servers via a socket or remoting connection. Customers are pleased with my work but it seems that over the past twelve months or so, those same customers have expressed a strong demand to...

Here I am learning WinForms and two months into it I learn there's a WPF API that is coming out. Is this WPF out yet, and is it a threat to WinForms, in the sense that all the library routines I memorize and/ or familiarize myself in WinForms will disappear in WPF? I did note in one early version of C#, the non-generic "ArrayList" was replaced by the generic and template <based List, but that kind of change is not a big deal. If WPF...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
