1.1 Winforms App and Outlook Not Playing Nicely

I have a Winforms app written in .Net 1.1 (C#) that runs great so long
as Outlook isn't open. As soon as I have Outlook running, the entire
computer becomes sluggish and Outlook simply stops working for the most
part. If, for instance, I have both my app and Outlook running and I
try to open an email, outlook becomes unresponsive until I close my app
again.

Can anyone suggest a good way to track down what is causing this
behaviour. something like a magic application that is free, will tell
me exactly what is happening with system resources and help me bring
about world peace? Okay, I can wait until v2 for world peace, but
something that might help me track down what resources are being shared
and causing this problem would be really really handy.

I'm also open to any manual processes someone can suggest. I've started
shutting down different parts of the app to see if they are causing
issues (i.e. I shut down app logging, then turned off wrting data to
file - both to no avail) but this could be time consuming and
potentially introduce other bugs.

Cheers and thanks in advance!

Russ

I am faced with quite a conundrum. I have been assigned to develop a contact database, that can be queried using many different criterion. Now the hardest part is, my clients want to view the contact information including their e-mails and eventually send them e-mails. Now the output could be a group of 50 people that matched the criterion, and my client wants to be able to e-mail to all of them, preferably with a single click, just like...

We are trying to decide if we should deploy using Webforms or Winforms and I need advice from someone who is not on my team. The VB 6.0 application is used by approximately 100 users. All users reside in-house. There is an existing external website that will use some of the same components but the two applications are separate. The...

I have written a winforms application that launches approximately 150 threads with Thread.ThreadStart() Each thread uses CDO 1.21 to logon to a different Exchange mailbox and send/receive a number of mail messages, reporting back to the UI thread through the use of a Queue object. When all messages that are expected have been received, each thread sends a final update to the UI and the method should exit, which should terminate the...

Hi, I am developping an application in C# that creates outlook contacts from a database. For the outlook part of the application, I use the outlook COM object (Version 11 from Office 2003). If a contact is already present in the outlook contact database, it should be updated. Therefore I store the outlook EntryID when adding a contact in outlook in the corresponding database record. When adding a contact to outlook, I first check if I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
