ASP.NET user authentication/authorization

1 New Member
Hi all!

I want to be able to use loginviews to display different content based on who is logged in. I am using a remote system to handle user logins and it will send back a token and a "yes" or "no" depending on whether the user is valid. So, my login.aspx page handles the redirection and the server response.

What I would like to do is: once I get a response back, programmaticall y login the user giving them the proper rights.

I have created two users (admin and user) using the ASP Website Administration Tool and two roles (admin and user), each user is part of their role, respectively.

I have tried creating users in the web.config and then calling
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. FormsAuthentication.Authenticate("username", "password")
which returns TRUE,

but then when I check:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. User.Identity.IsAuthenticated
it is still false

Any ideas as to how I can actually get a user logged in so that the loginview will show content accordingly?

Thanks!!

Hi all, how can I check a user/password in a LDAP ? I don't want to connect with this user, I would like to connect to LDAP with a ADMIN_LOG/ADMIN_PWD, then do a query to find the user and check the password. The thing is I can't access the password attribute to compare with the user's password provided.

This is a simplified version of my site. There are Premium users who have access to the Premium directory. Anyone else attempting to access it should be logged and then redirected to the Premium.aspx - which explains the advantages of being a Premium member and provides examples of content. The default page for site visitors is "News/Default.aspx" but only those with cookies set should go there otherwise visitors need to login to...

I am testing ASP.NET 2.0 Forms athentication with user credentials in SQL Server 2005. I don't want to put user credentials in web.config, so the credentials section is commented out. The following is the relevant part in my web.config. <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms name=".MyWebAppAuth" path="/" loginUrl="Default.aspx" protection="All"

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
