Session Checking In Class File

5 New Member
Hello

I created a class which checks session and redirects to login page. My class looks like this. This class inherits Page class to get access to Session object.

1 public class CAuthentication :System.Web.UI. page
2 {
3 public CAuthentication ()
4 {
5 if ( Session["login"] == null )
6 Response.Redire ct("expired.asp x");
7 }
8 }

My ASPX.CS looks like

1 public partial class MyPage:CAuthent ication
2 {
3 //Pageload goes here
4 }
5

This is not working. I am getting error "session can't be used inside a class". What is wrong here ? Normally codebehind file used to inherit System.Web.UI.P age, Instead of this I inherited this in my CAuthentication class. Where I am going wrong ?

I tried Context.Session also, then it shows Object Reference error. Please help

Tell me if my assertion is wrong here: The only way to prevent session hijacking is to NEVER store authentication information (such as name/password) in the session. Well, to never authenticate a user from information you got from the session. Each secure app on a site must challenge the user for name and password, each and every time the user accesses it (not just once and then store it in the session). If a secure app is multi-page,...

Greetings I am writing code in a C# web service solution. I want to create an instance of an object (that I created) in a Session variable. I need to check to see if the Session variable has been set yet. If the variable already contains an instance of this object then I will retrieve and use the existing object, rather than create a new instance. ie. I will only create a new object the first time the procedure is called, and then save...

I was looking at different ways of doing the same thing and at the moment was looking at the use of "is" and "=", as I have at times found that I will do something like if something = 0 and will get an error that says I can't use "=" (or <>) in this case case I must use "is" ( or not something is). I am trying to find out when this is the case - when I can use the "=" and when I have to use "is.

Hi, I'm using a PCOMM AutSess instantiated class to establish a session with an IBM host (S/390) from within an Excel spreadsheet using: session.SetConnectionByName Not sure how long this session lasts. On subsequent reruns of the VB app (embedded in the spreadsheet), I get errors returned from the above method. Would seem that the session is still established/active. Even checking session.Started and session.Active gives errors. ...

Howdy I've got a rather strange issue occuring. I used forms based .NET authentication, although I'm also setting some session variables when people login. However, I've found when people use one of my webform pages which includes a button that pops up a window where you can upload files, if you upload files in this popup window, it seems to somehow clear out all of the session variables and the users get logged out. However, if...

Some ASP.NET applications use Session Variables extensively to maintain state. These should be re-written to use viewstate, hidden fields, querystring, etc. instead. This is because if a user opens a new IE window with Ctrl-N or File-New-Window, BOTH WINDOWS SHARE THE SAME SESSION VARIABLES. This cannot be prevented.

In a web-application with login creds (user, pwd), these are checked against a user table on a SQL server. On a positive validation I have saved the userID, name, custno and role-settings in a userobject (custom build class) and added this to the session using as session variable like session For all other pages I have added a small test in the page_load event, basically testing if the session != null, but also checking if the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
