Converting serializad file into byte array,get its length.

1 New Member
Hello,

My task is to send data packets on network.
I've file which I have serialized by using Serialize() method of binaryformatter class and now I want to convert the file into array of bytes and then get the length of the byte array and convert into reasonable no. of data packets which will be passed to a method and then send over a network.

I've just aserialized file so plz reply to this article as soon as possible.

Does the file have to be serialized?

Reading in a file to a Byte[] is a very basic task. Just open the file and read it all in. All arrays in managed code have a .Length property telling you how big they are.

And as for sending the packets, that's all handled at the driver level (at least for tcp/ip). The two endpoints auto-negotiate a window size(data size) and send multiple packets on their own. So you *should* be able to just do a socket send of the whole chunk and it will packetize it for you.
Unless your sending protocol wants you to send it piecewise and get responses back.

Hi there, I am trying to write a method that accepts an array of any primitive type and will return the same array without copying memory as an array of bytes. ie. I'd like to be able to do something like: char chars = "Hello!"; byte bytes = (byte) chars;

I am using binary writer to write an array of bytes to disk. However, my data starts out as an array of sbytes. I am currently type casting each array element in a for loop. Is there a faster method for converting an array of sbytes to an array of bytes? Thanks, Darrel

Hi. I'm developing an application using managed C++. My application has to use a DLL developed in standard C++. The mentioned DLL implements a class for file operations. There is a class method uses a pointer to a buffer (e.g. BYTE *pBuf = new BYTE ) as input / output. My program has to serialize a 'ref class MyClass' and store it in the file using the mentioned DLL API. Another invocation of the program has to deserialize the prior...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
