Hi,
I am importing a .csv file using StreamReader. I can not use Jet Engine as I cannot install it on client. I am reading it line by line and then split the line with comma and get the array. (Is there any more efficient way then this ?).
using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(_f ileName))
{
string line;
while ((line = sr.ReadLine()) != null)
{
string[] fields = line.Split(',') ;
}
I have field like address which itself can contain comma. So I think the split logic can not work. Is there any better way to handle this.

If it is a well formated CSV file, there should be some sort of qualifier surrounding any data that contains the delimeter. Otherwise, there's no way to tell where one piece of data ends and another begins.
E.g., in the following example, the quotation marks ("") denote where one data element begins and ends.
first,"second , with a comma",third

I am writing a console app in c# wherein am converting a dataset into a CSV
file. It works fine. But I have some values in the dataset which have a comma
within(eg. A,B,C). When I view the CSV file in Excel, the multiple values
which are separated by the 'comma' in the dataset are being displayed in the
next column , which I dont want that way. I want to retain any commas which
are present in my dataset.
How do I handle such a scenario?

I've been asked to develop a semi-automated type situation where we have a
database table (sql server) and periodically, there will be a comma
delimited file from which we need to import the data, replacing the old.
I naurally know that we can use to kill the other data,
but does anyone have any examples of importing a comma delimited file into
SQL Server with ASP?

I have never done this and wanted to ask people who have what is the
best way.
One person said import it to excel, then import it into access table.
but since this will be done a lot, I am trying to avoid this extra
step.
can access read in this file directly into a table as append data?
thank you very much for any pointers

I'm trying to import a comma delimited text file into MS Access 2002
version - the first column is set for an auto increment primary key and
everything works right the first time I import a text file, however when I
try to append to this new database table Access always messes up the
import - as long as I ieave the auto increment column out it has no trouble
appending to the database , and then I have to add the auto increment column...

I have a text file that stores a number of records that I need to access in
a vb.net application. Each of the fields that make up a record are of a
fixed number of bytes. So for instance there is an address field of 240
bytes and there is an id field of 12 bytes. Where the data stored in a field
does not fill the available number of bytes then spaces " " are inserted to
fill the remaining bytes. There are no delimiters, just fields of a...

I am trying to read from a comma delimeted file in vb.net. Following is an example of a line in the file.
I am using the streamreader.readline function and have been successful at reading the first line. What is the easiest way to break this line up so each field is seperate?
"Allocate From","Co","Emp","Issue Date","Debit","Credit","Account #"
"Regular Earnings","","","","22,222.22","0.00","2222-222"
Thanks for you time.

Greetings,
I'm using the DoCmd.TransferText method to export the results of a MS
Access query to a csv file. The csv will then be used to load an Oracle
table.
In other systems such as TOAD for Oracle, it's possible to force an
additional comma delimiter after the last column, if the column is empty
on a particular row. Oracle requires this additional comma on empty
rightmost columns, for importing purposes.

This is a module that imports information to a Query or a Table from comma separated values file in a text format! It is very helpful for getting information from other applications and from files!
The function that does this work is: import_csv_file_to_SQL(File_name, SQL, Optional text_delimiter, Optional Field_delimiter)
Parameters:
File_name: The file name of the respective file from which should be done the import. Should...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
