Hi. I'm a SQL Server novice, so apologies if any of this sounds simple. I am running Windows XP SP2, and have just installed SQLServer 2000. I need another application to connect to SQLServer, and am specifying it to do so via localhost:1433, but keep getting an error whenever I try doing so saying it cannot connect to the database. A colleague of mine has the exact same set up on his machine, and he can connect to SQL Server fine....

Hello, there is an NMEAParserDemo application written in VC++ avaliable for download from http://www.visualgps.net/Papers/NMEAParser/NMEAParserDemo%20Project.zip. Source code in VC++ is provided, unfortunately this application features no logging option. My intention is to add data logging option to let me read processed lat, lon, alt, time data on-line in another application.

Hi Gurus, Our system is using SqlServer 2005 on XP.( On my machine, only this application access SQLServer.) The sqlserver memory is configured to 128MB (Min)~512 MB(Max) After our system get started, sqlserver takes about 100M memory. After the system runs for a while, the memory used by sqlserver goes up to 512MB. Then we exit our application and expect the memory usage of SqlServer could be dropped down to the min value....

A project depends on VC runtime from Visual Studio 2005 SP1, and DotNet Framework 2. Options are set in the setup project properties, so if these two dependencies are not already installed then this installer will install them. But what about the situation where VC runtime has already been installed? In fact it's been installed twice. Although the project was built on a Windows XP system with Visual Studio 2005 SP1 and the results were...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
