Hi all,
I have recently started working with the new XML functionality in
PHP5, but I am running into a few problems. Specifically, I am using
an Xpath query to try and pull out the data in specific elements
within my XML file. The problem I am getting is that one of the XML
elements contains namespace attributes and this seems to prevent the
Xpath query from working (ie, if I manually strip the namespace
attributes then the query works...

I refined my attempt a little further, and the following code does
seem to work, however it has 2 major problems:
1. Very limited support for XPath features
Basic paths are supported for elements, attributes, ".", and "..",
plus also the "" predicate format is supported -
however, only one predicate per path step is supported, and expr must
be a relative path.
2. Poor performance

I am having a problem selecting nodes with XPATH expressions when an
attribute values contain backslashes (\\) in as part of its value:
For example the following statement fails to find a node (even though one
exists in the XML) if the value of the LDAPServerURL attribute is
\\LocalServer but works if the value is "LocalServer".

The general idea is that I have an XML column in a table and I would like to update/delete some values while leaving the other values alone.
