Hi fellows,
I have two simple questions regarding the Framework's deploy and the Setup
and Deploy Projects:
1. As I've read in another posts and newsgroups (and as I can imagine),
VS.NET IDE isn't capable of create a setup and deploy project and, in a
elegant way, during the setup process, detect the absence of the Framework.
In this case, I'd like to run the Dotnetredist.exe file, first, and the

I'm working with VS.NET 2003 and .NET 1.1 (not SP1) on Windows XP SP1. My
application is using the Windows Installer Bootstrap. (I may have also
installed a module which detects requirements (.NET 1.1 -> MsiNetAssembly
Support.) I have a few issues and questions regarding the MSI and its
properties.
* This may be my biggest annoyance at the moment. When the installer creates
the target directory, it's setting them as read-only. When the...

I need to move some of the files to a directory (actually
another web site on the same server) to use the SSL

paying for any more SSL than absolutely necessary.
When I move the data collection files I
can 'Response.Redirect()' to them but the DLL is trying to

Using VS2003 I have created a solution containing 2
c# projects and one setup project. One c# project is
a nt service and a project installer for the service.
The second c# project is a form and an installer to
show the form during the install process. Primary
output from both these projects has been added to the
setup project and to custom actions (install/commit/rollback/
uninstall).
1) How do I abort/rollback the installation if the...

WE had a Crystal 8 WebApp using vs 2002 which we upgraded to VS2003. I also
have Crystal 9 pro on my development machine. The web app runs fine on my
dev machine but am having problems deploying. I created the websetup and
built the MSI, have the bundled version. Copied to webserver and ran
Websetup.msi. Said I had to remove old version, which I did, then reran
WebSetup.msi and keeps giving me this error. "The installer was interrupted...

Hi:
I've written a really cool VB.NET application that I want to install on the
many computers in my company (all located behind a firewall) so I'm trying
to create a Setup and Deployment project. I'm not having much luck and the
documentation doesn't help either.
I have created a "software update" page on our web server and it sends file
"setup1.msi" which runs the windows installer just fine.

I resisted for many years but I've just written my first app in .NET2005
and am looking to deploy my app with a third-party installer. ClickOnce
and the VS Installer do not meed my needs and I am already well versed
in another installer.
My question is mainly dealing with deploying the app dependecies. I think
I know where im headed but could use the advice of others who have had
more experience. Should i just take all the files in the...

I have used the Windows Service template to create, well, a Windows Service. It starts, stops, pauses etc. Works great.
I added an Setup project. It builds an .msi (and .exe) file. I thought I was almost finished. I uninstalled my service (InstallUtil.exe via a External Tools macro I made- ask about that).
I ran the newly created installation program. It indeed installed my service exe using the familiar installer wizard. However...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
