Hi,
my friend needed a free c++ compiler so I recommeded him visual c++, I
told him, what I believed, that visual c++ compiler is free for
download from msdn. Now he needed an ide and I recommended visual
studio / express, but he says its too heavy for his home machine which
is some pentium machine with only 512mb ram running a lot of other
applications (databases). So he needs some alternative which is really
low in resources requirement but provides some basic features of an
ide. Plz recommend some if possible.

You wont be able to find a modern IDE that can run on a machine with those
sort of specs if said machine is running all these background processors.

Is it possible to set options in the Tools >> Options dialog
programmatically? For example, I want to create an Access 2002 MDE that
will set, on startup, various options in the View, General, and Edit/Find
tabs of the Options dialog. Can this be done? Are there any developer
resources for doing this?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I'm working on a page that dynamically creates listboxes and the
"options" that are added to the listbox. A user can then click on
buttons to either add or delete the "options" from one listbox to the
other. All of this works fine, but when the user changes from one
page to the next, I'm trying to save all user input before it
redirects to the next page. For some reason, I can't see what values
have been selected in one of the...

Is there online documentation for my version of link.exe (specifically,
command line options available)? If yes, where is it?
This is my version:
Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 7.1 69462-270-0000007-18536
I found online docs for newer versions. And spent about 10 minutes using
MSDN search and google, but couldn't find it :(
If I find it, I'll reply to this post.

Hi to all folks here,
i just bought a book and started reading about this language.
I want to ask what options do we have to deploy a python program to
users that do not have the labguage installed ??
I mean, can i make an executable file, or something that contains the
runtime and the modules that the program only use or am i forced to
download the language to the user machine so the .py files can be run
??

Recently I ran all my Windows Updates which included many for Visual

include: DataSet, DataGridView, BindingSource, etc.
This means that Label, Textbox, button, etc are all unavailable. My
"General" option in Toolbox states "There are no useable controls in

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
