The below script produces a ' Bad File Descriptor' when executed. If I remove the try: except: statements, the script stops when the error occurs. The purpose of the script is to monitor the size of the three main logs on a Windows 2003 server and send and email should any of the logs get shorter. It works fine... just don't know *why* it produces the ' Bad File Descriptor' error. I'm running Python 2.4.1 on Windows 2003 SP1 Server...

Hey, Is it possible to use Enterprise Library in a Windows Service? I work in VS2005 and made an Windows Service, but I don't see an app.config file. So, I created one appname.exe.config. Then I went to the enterprise configuration tool to set my connection string (I did the same in a WindowsForm application and it worked).

After editing the registry, Windows would log me off right after it started up. I found some information about fixing this problem (eg http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Windows-XP-Logs-Then-Immediately-Logs-Off-t15771.html). However, after recruiting someone else's help, once Recovery Console was started the selected to Repair Windows. That was going fine, but while "Installing Windows" it hit a point with 34 minutes remaining while...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
