ASP .Net - Exclude column using dataview

14 New Member
hi all,

i have an app that calls a sp. values generated from sp are stored in a dataset. dataset is then filtered using dataview rowfilter then displayed on datagrid. all works fine. my question is...can i exclude a column from dataview?
let's say in my sp, i query for column1, column2 and column3. all columns are stored in a dataset then used dataview.rowfil ter to filter values from column3. what if i don't want to show column3 in the datagrid? is this possible?

thanks!

You could try creating a datatable first manipulating it and then binding it to the control. HTH.

My Windows datagrid has two columns: one with the data that the user will see (col_X) and the other one (a hidden one: col_sort) that'll be used to sort data. When a user clicks on col_X's column header, I'm intercepting the header click and "telling" it to sort the dataview using col_sort. But for some reason, the "return" is not being executed. When I press the mouse key, it'll sort correctly (by col_sort), but as soon as I release the...

Hello All, I am having a lot of difficulty trying to bind a templated column, that is programmatically created for a datagrid, to a datasource column. I have a datasource containing 2 columns, ID and VALUE. I would like to create a templated column in the datagrid that is bound to the VALUE column of the datasource.

Hi, I need to create a function that will return the number of columns in a passed reference to a DataView. I can find the number of columns in its underlying Data table but have not been able to find a way of determining the column count in the DataView. Thanks for any assistance.

Is there a way to programatically set the format of just one column in a datagrid? I have a datagrid bined to a datasource. My dataview has 6 columns. And I want to format one column ('amount')...without have to mess with all the other columns. If I use DataGridTableStyle() and DataGridTextBoxColumn() (see following code)...my datagrid only displays 1 column! Dim dvFinders As New DataView(dtFinders) DataGrid1.DataSource = dvFinders...

How do I set the column width in a datagrid when the datasource is a dataview? I want to use a dataview so data changes, inserts, and deletes are disabled. I can set the column width when I use the DataTable that underlies the DataView as the DataSource in the DataGrid. When I use the DataTable name as the MappingName in the DataGridTableStyle, it works like a charm. However, when I change the DataGrid.DataSource to the DataView, I...

How I can remove an AutoGenerated column? I wnat to inlcude the primary key in the resultset for creating some custom LinkButtons, but I don't want it (the PK) displayed in the DataGrid. Hello, I am reading data from a sql server table that is under replication. This table has the replicatin GUID column that is generated with replicatin. I am reading the data from a dataAdapter/Dataset using a dataview which is the data source for a datagridview control. When I scroll horizontally in the datagridview control and reach this GUID column (which is not at the end of the table) it raises the datagridview dataError event. ...

I have been searching all over the web for a way to sort a DataGridView based on the actual text being shown in a ComboBox column as opposed to the underlying value (an ID in this case). Can anyone tell me if this is even possible, and if so, how to do it? If this is completely impossible, how would you suggest going about sorting a ComboBox wherein the text displayed in the column is the client's name, and the underlying value is an ID? ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
