Hi, I am writing a remote update app, and I'd like to programmatically backup the SQL Server 2000 database before running the SQL files over it. Can anyone tell me a command that does a hot backup of the DB and puts it somewhere, which I would shell exec from my program. eg ShellExec("hotbackup mydb c:\tmp\backups\todaysBackup.bak") I'm not concerned with how long it takes to restore. ie preferably a quick

Hi there, I've been sent a backup file from a SQL Server 2000 DB and tried restoring into a blank DB (with the same name) on my SQL Server 2K, only it errors, see below: (I've separated each line with a return, to make it more readable) 2005-07-08 11:08:23.93 spid51 BackupIoRequest::WaitForIoCompletion: read failure on backup device 'C:\file location to backup'. Operating system error 87(The parameter is incorrect.).

Hello, I am using SQL Server 2000 with SP4. I have a database with two full backups at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM and a transactional log backup at 5:30 PM. Is there a possible way to do a point in time restore to 4:30 PM, that is between two full backups? When I try to use the transactional log backup that is taken at 5:30, I can never specify a time before 5:00 PM. Is the transaction log truncated at each full backup? If so, even if you...

Its like it skips over it for some reason... Output of the script below on the night in question was: Executed as user: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. master (Message 0) Status is ONLINE dbname / dbdevice = master / SQLBUmaster (Message 0) Processed...

Hi Group, I developed a intranet site using MSSQL7/win2000 some time ago. The target environment used MSSQL2000/8. We were (almost painlessly) able to import the db-scheme and data from 7 to 8. (Bravo MSSQL) Now I need to do some upgrading on the application and I would like to have a copy of the database from MSSQL2000/8 to MSSQL7. Is that also possible?

Hi. I receive a database backup on a daily basis. I then import this dump on another server which I use for software development. There is two db's being hosted on this server. We test software upgrades against these two db's. The "refresh" needs to be completed at least once a day, sometimes 4-5 times a day. I need the quickest way of doing this task. I have extremely limited knowledge on scripting. What I need is something that I can just...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
