Hi, I created a COM AddIn for Word that performs the functions that it needs to, but I needed to add the ability for the toolbar created by the COM AddIn to remember it's last position and whether it was docked or not. I added the following code to my "OnConnection" function but it fails with an error, "Run-time exception thrown : System.IO.IOException - Bad file name or number." With applicationObject.CommandBars("SampleToolbar")

Hello, I am calling this sub to start watcher. It seems if the network drive went down and came back, watcher is not checking the file anymore. What is the secure way to stop it and call this sub to start it again. Thanks, Jim. Private Sub WatchFileSystem(ByVal fPath As String, ByVal fName As String)

Hi, I've read several questions and often the answer was 'C knows nothing about .' So if C knows that little as some people say, what are the benefits, I mean do other languages know more or is it a benefit that C knows nearly nothing (what I can think about is that C is the largest common divisor defined on most available platforms)?

I have a Shared class with a New constructor that initializes some Shared properties. One of the steps involves a hit to the database. My tests show that when called by a WinForms app, the constructor only runs once. All calls to the class after this do not casues the construtor to run again. This means it is a one time hit to the database to load these properties. 1. Can someone confirm this?

I have a directory on my site that I keep a bunch of text files in (this directory is "/poetry/poems/"). The Application keeps the first line of each of these files in an HttpApplicationState variable as a SortedList. When I add or modify a file in this directory, I want to delete this HttpApplicationState variable. I tried to do this using the following lines of code in Global.asax.vb: Private WithEvents poemfilewatcher As New...

Sorry to bomb this list with an off-topic post, however... Ages ago I wrote a mouse/keyboard watcher in Python+Tk: http://sf.net/projects/watch. It's been idle for a long while though, isn't terribly portable and doesn't work properly with tools like Synergy (http://sf.net/projects/synergy2). Someone, I thought from this list or maybe python-dev, told me about a newer open source application in the same space which is more portable and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
