I do the following where sss is a string equal to a filename.
PictureBox.Image = = New Bitmap(sss)
It occurred to me that the file will be locked until the picturebox is
disposed at the program end.
Would it make more sense to use DrawImage.
I mean, is that what programmers typically do?

If I have the image 'Myimage.gif' in my application directory,
how do I load this image into a variable,
and then... set this = to a picturebox image property.
I do not want to directly assign the image.

I'm using VB.NET with 2.0 - I have a number of PictureBoxes in my application - all of which use a context menu to change the associated Image to one of 5 options. I need to maintain the state of these PictureBox.Image setting across application shutdown and subsequent startup. my.Settings is just the ticket, but alas, doing this the only way I find won't work for me because the PictureBox - Application Settings - Property Binding doesn't expose...

For various reasons I want to use a PictureBox to display images.
That is I want sometimes to assign an Image to the PictureBox
Sometimes I want to draw on that Image.
What are the reasons for and against using the PictureBox Image property,
and what are they for using the
BackgroundImage.

Hello, could anyone tell me how to save a bitmap from picturebox.image as a 24bpprgb bitmap?
picturebox.Image.Save(path, ImageFormat.Bmp) saves a 32bpprgb bitmap
and
Bitmap bmp = (Bitmap)picturebox.Image; gets a 32bpprgb bitmap too.
So is it possible at all?

I have a picturebox on my C# .NET form. The picturebox size mode is set to
zoom. I then load an image into that form and display it. As the user
moves the mouse over the form, I want to get and display (in the status bar)
the image coordinates of the mouse location. However, if I use the
picturebox's MouseMove event, I am getting the coordinates of the mouse over
the PICTUREBOX, not the actual image underneath that (which is zoomed).
i.e....

I have a routine that updates a PictureBox image every x seconds. I do this
by first loading an array with the path to all of the images. I then
generate a random number to use as the index of the array. A timer is set to
update the PictureBox. This works great the first time through but fails on
all subsequent Timer events. If I simply step through the code it works
fine. If I run it only the first time through does the PictureBox update...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
