Hi,
I am working on a project that requires a Windows Service which
performs the following file transfer functions.
1. It monitors a specific local directory on a Windows 2003 Server.
2. When it finds files with a specific extension, it queries a SQL
Server database to determine what workstation will be the destination
of a File.Copy.
3. It copies those files to the appropriate workstations on the LAN,

I need to create a C# service that will run a stored procedure which
returns a result set. From there I need to create a file using the
result set in a specific format. The format could be fixed length or
comma delimited, or even xml. This service should run in the
background and only execute on the first of the month. If you have
done this or know how to get this done, I would really appreciate the
knowledge.
Break Down of my Problem....

I am trying to deploy the most basic web service (Hello World) example
to my website, but am having significant trouble doing so. Here is what
I am doing:
1) Create a New Web Service in VS 2005
2) Build the website
3) Verify that it works by clicking "View in Browser"
4) Click Copy Website to copy to my webserver
5) Navigate to the website where I just deployed the service

It appears that the automatic compilation feature of ASP.NET causes
problems with a security package called Black Ice that my hosting service is
using.
I'm hoping that if I manually compile my web service, I can avoid the
randomly named DLLs that ASP.NET creates when I hit my web service after
FTPing new C# source code.
So I used Visual Studio to create a web service on the remote hosting
service and that worked. However, I would like...

I fairly have my Web Service working the way that I want, so my next step
will be to deploy it on a server. Do I just add a deployment/install
project, build it and install it on the server?
TIA!

Posted in a different news group - but hoping to find an answer here...
I am using VS 2005 and am testing my first web service. If I follow the
common instructions for creating a web service by creating a new website
using the ASPX.Net Web Service template, there appears to be no dll file
created when building the web site. However, if I create a class library and
move the asmx file and App_Code directory to that library the .dll file...

Hi
I am trying to develop a Windows service in VB.NET which has timer
enabled and keeps checking a folder (or group of folders) for any new
file or changed files. As soon as it detects any new file or changes
(to files or folders) then it copies the files (and any new folders) to
a folder in the mapped network drive.
So far I have been successful in developing and deploying the service
which works on my local machine with two drives...

I have written two windows services:
- service A does some crunching of local data files and uploads them to
a central processing computer via http.
- service B monitors a manifest file on a webserver to see if service A
needs to be updated.
What service B does if it sees their is an update for service A is to
download a new copy of the service A executable, stop service A,
replace the executable with the new copy, and start service B...

Hello
If someone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. I’m no web
service expert but I don't think i'm trying to do anything too special. I
think i must be missing something simple because i have been banging my head
against a wall with this for a while now.
I have created a web service and a client Win forms application to consume
the web service. The problem is i don't know where the web service will be
deployed...

Back some time ago I was playing with a little app in VB 2005 that used
a google web service to get search results. I was rebuilding this app
in 2008 today. I added the web service
http://api.google.com/googlesearch.wsdl and then down in the code I was
typing Dim myGoogle As New Google.GoogleSearchService only to find
GoogleSearchService was no longer a method. I looked on google for
documentation and it appears they no longer offer...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
