centralised configuration for patterns and practices library

Hi,

I use the June 2005 (framework 1.1) edition of MS patterns and practices
library to access my data from several project (c# exe, asp.net apps and I am
going to use them for old asp projects through com wrappers).

I would like to have a single configuration for all the application using
them (the library dll are in GAC) but I do not know how can I configure them
so that no matter who is the caller they will read data from the same source,
without having to deal with multiple confiuguration files.

Bye & thanks

I downloaded the patterns and practices enterprise library and found that it is much different for the Data library that I am used to (SqlHelper)..It's not just an update but a total rewrite. Anywho, figured out how to get it to work which wasn't too hard. What I haven't found and am having trouble with is updating and inserting into a database. In the SqlHelper library, there were methods such as ExecuteScalarTypedParams and such which...

Hi! I try to use the configuration application block from the Enterprise Library and have done prework as specified from one of the hands-on labs from that package. When trying to get configuration settings using the ConfigurationManager.GetConfiguration my application, which is a windows service, stops with the following error message (parts of it) written to the event log. "Service cannot be started. System.IO.FileNotFoundException:...

I am looking for patterns for a distributed .Net application for a small retail chain. The owner wants the stores to have access to all data (no matter which store it comes from) in real time. In the case of an internet outage, the store owner would like for the individual stores to still have access to (at least) all data from all stores as of the previous day. This looks like a possible pain in the *........real-time data in N...

I am attempting to use the Enterprise Library (Jan 2006) Cryptography block to encrypt a credit card number in my ASP.NET 2.0 Commerce Server application. When I call the EncryptSymmetric() method, I get this error: Server Error in '/Store' Application....

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
