Problem with System.Net.Sock ets. Listen server stops receiving.

1 New Member
Hello.

I have an application written in C# framework 1.1.
Im using the System.Net.Sock ets namespace. I've been using code from http://www.codeguru.co m/csharp/csharp/cs_network/sockets/article.php/c8781/.

This application works fine for a certain amount of time, but for some unknown reason the listen socket stops receiving. When it stops is just random. The scenario is like a you unplug the network cable. The server still has status connected, and just waits for client to send any data.

Our old application is written using Winsock and VB 6.0. This application does not have this problem.

Anyone here that can give me a clue on what it might be?

Is it more appropriate to use os.popen or os.system on a windows XP client? I'm calling the operting system's shutdown function like this: restart = os.popen(shutdown -r -f) print restart.read() restart.close() If it matters, I'm doing this remotely over sockets.

I modified the logmonitor sdk example so it would work over a network. It works great when the client and server are running on the same PC and have administrator privileges. So I have two problems: 1) I cannot run the client without administrator privileges. If I try I get the following message: Unhandled Exception: System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed. at...

Hello, Please Help..... I have been working with some tcp/ip socket communication within a C# program recently. Basicly, I have a program (myProblemProgram) that has a socket connected to another program for information passing. Upon receiving a particular "command" from the the information passing program, myProblemProgram will launch a separate thread to do individual communication with another file transfer program. The thread...

I am trying to create a server application using asynchronous sockets. I run into a problem when I try to connect to my server using a non-.net program. I can establish the connection, and send some packets in response to the programs first message, but when I receive a response back, it's the last packet I sent. After that packet, I receive the packet I really wanted. This only happens when I connect with local host. I tried...

Hi all, I'm trying to develop a server that listens to incoming calls using the asycnhronous methods BeginAccept / EndAccept. I start the server (till this point it is ok) and few seconds later I stop it (with no clients connected). Once I press the stop button an ObjectDisposedException is fired. What is the reason for this? Is it because the thread is still running even after I closed the server socket? Here is the code:

Okay, so I'm tying to get use to programming with sockets, and I have run into a bit of a snag. As of now, my program basically works like this: Server: Listen for a connection Client: Request a connection Server: Accept connection Client: Send message Client: Wait for response

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
